If half of you can tell how the season will end based on our first pre season friendly, don't forget to update the rest of us when you have an inkling over the lottery numbers. It will end with a game against Hampton and Richmond. I'll send you the numbers

Is the mood changing ? A month ago we were being told by 'you know who' not to panic. Do I can sense the finger hovering over the panic button ? Who’s finger. I’m certainly not panicking after one pre-season game featuring more than half a team of trialists. Davy in his usual pre-season panic having told everyone not to panic

Whilst we are on the honesty box let’s say it exactly how it is from a football perspective-we have an untried manager who has lost every game and has repeated his predecessors mistake of poor summer recruitment as we still don’t have a full squad and we are in psf which are supposed to bind the team but are instead to evaluate cast offs that are last minute desperation signings. To make it worse we are now the black and yellow army for this season. Of course we mustn’t panic but as this thread is being honest about male genitalia let’s also be honest about our club. This season could be very long and depressing again. The last time our shirts went yellow was during Covid. Just saying. Just to pick up on a few points: Our manager hasn't lost every game. Recruitment - time will tell. I do agree that ideally you have your squad by the friendlies but lets wait and judge based on the team once assembled. The season could be long and depressing but if we are mid-table then we are winning as many as we are losing and if you temper expectations and go to each game to enjoy it with your mates, then it shouldn't be that bad. I mean last season we won 5 games so this should (should) be better than that. Nicely managed expectations woodstone. So as long as we go to the Gallagher for a day out with mates and don’t have expectations of winning or seeing some good football it will be an ok season. Fair point, well made. Unfortunately I enjoy seeing entertaining football so maybe I’ll only go when it’s a good day out.

You're sounding as panicked as Davy Not panicking. Observing the obvious and commenting on it just like you do nws about politics. Does that make you a panicker? No it doesn’t. Tonight was a crock wasn’t it. Best players on the pitch weren’t Stones players. It’s a bit of a shambles really. But don’t panic they are only friendlies. Don’t panic it’s only the first few league games we haven’t been convincing in. Don’t panic it’s only Christmas we can still climb out of the bottom three. Sound familiar? Just saying.

Time to start showing us the squad George. It’s all very well giving trialists a chance but few if any of them looked good enough. Four halves, four different teams and we’ve only seen about eight of the actual signed on players. And if that’s the best Chatham have to offer against a disjointed Stones trial squad then it’s gonna be a tough season for them.

There was 1 goal in the Sheppey game.
No chance of there being a goal tonight even if we continued playing for another 45 minutes.

Tbh I am concerned about 2 successive poor performances against lower league opposition. Could anyone see the difference in class ? Whats this with loads of trialists on show at this stage. Not what I expected of George. Nothing resembling a 1st X1 and shed-loads of gaps in the line up. Doesnt seem that George has signings in mind if he is looking at so many players on trial. Worrying times

Agree. 2 frendlies but nothing encouraging on show. Surprised to see so many trialists who are basically players George doesnt know much about or he isnt sure about. Whatever its not quite the impression we had of George being close to capturing some key signings.

2 games against seriously strong opposition. OK we neverlooked like winning but against the quality of Sheppey and Chats, some supporters need to keep a lid on expectations.

I think the days of playing a team to “get to know each other in early friendlies has passed. More about fitness and trials.
Thought it was more competitive last night. Chatham are a decent team. Reminded me of us in years gone by.
I’ll judge the squad when it is finished.
Work to do
