So was your point about supporting the team while ground hopping. It's just different wants according to lifestyle. If we make it to the first round that could bring in the likes of Sunderland couldn't it? The point is, there are plenty who would go to Kings Langley away who probably won't even consider attending the home tie. After all, we only had 1200 on Saturday and we'll likely have the same in the next round. So to those who won't go because it's at home, it's hard to draw any other conclusion than that groundhopping is more important than supporting the team.

It takes all sorts, of course, and it's good to have a large away following, but the bottom line is that it's people through the turnstiles at JWW that the club needs most.

It's not so much groundhopping it's the whole day out. Dorking was a new ground for me but I was there at 0900 so I could have breakfast, walk or more like hobble around a new town. Its about trying new pubs, new beers and meeting new people . I found a couple of excellent books that would still be sitting on the shelf otherwise and then we came to the real reason for the visit and that was watching the stones and in this particular occasion they ruined the whole day.whereas next Saturday will be the same as every Saturday at home though I might find a different pub for a change.

I financially couldn't have a season ticket because of the travel down to Maidstone every other week / midweek - doesn't mean I or anyone else supports the team less than anyone who lives in the town and / or can make it to the stadium easily? People also have families / partners / jobs / commitments / medical issues they have to put before football, so may not either be able to commit to season tickets or have to pick and choose which games they attend. Don't see what's so 'hard' when drawing a rather dull conclusion from that, other than your own self satisfaction at being able to attend regularly? A little judgemental perhaps...

Not sure where you think I said anything about having a season ticket or attending every home game, or why you are applying my comments to people who may not live near enough to attend regularly, or who have other commitments. But if you live close enough to easily attend a home cup tie and refuse to attend because it isn't interesting enough, but would happily attend an away tie against the same club on the same day, then it's not unreasonable to assume that visiting new grounds is more important than supporting the club.

I live in West London, so often an away cup match is a nice change... and travel is no more difficult if it’s out that way. I long for an away game against Hanwell Town.
However, I kinda feel like we should take the home advantage and (hopefully) the win money for the club. Save the away matches for when the bigger shared gates come in.

Talk about double standards, you say this on the previous page It's not about being lazy, it's about not having the luxury of the vast amounts of free time that some of you seem to manage. Well that’s how I feel about home games, I don’t have vast amounts of free time that you have to go to all the home games

Surely the aim is to go as far as possible not do a tour of England. There is the Trophy for that. If we make it to the Second Round we might earn enough to finally build the river side stand or sign some top rate players to drive us up the table. This is a fantastic draw.. could have been boreham wood away. I don't think you'll find anyone saying progression in the cup isn't key? I don't think that's the point. I don't live in Maidstone, and Kings Langley would be easier for me to get to ironically. Point in fact is, those of us who saw us narrowly lose to Yeovil a few years back at home probably wouldn't take that game over the 0-0 draw away at Stevenage or even the 4-1 loss at Milton Keynes (that first half goal felt like a win for everyone there). They say 'the magic of the cup' because of days like that. There's something special about away days out of your own league, and that's why I was hoping for a visit somewhere. Either way, fingers crossed we beat Kings Langley, and I get my little trip to a nice little town for a few beers, a walk around a new city / town / hamlet and to watch a few hundred / thousand Stones fans away, making a lot of noise. Lovely. Yes but you are unlikely to get a magic draw in the fourth qualifying round.

Right, time for a prediction. If the team gets it's finger out of it's backside and plays like we know they can I can see a 2-0 win. If the team that played hitchen turns up I can see the banana skins making an appearance
