Simplistically, we need 24 points from 14 games (assuming 50 is enough).
That's (W D L):
8 0 6 7 3 4 6 6 2 5 9 0
Which is one hell of an ask. But not impossible, if JS can really get us going.
There are at least six potentially winnable games coming up - one more, and we only need three draws as well to survive.
Still a big 'if', but, with a couple of wins under our belts we'll be a different side. With Cassidy back, Robinson up front, and the new players JS has brought in to tighten up the defence, it's certainly not impossible. Solihull were on much the same points as us around the same time last season, and they managed it - 7 wins and 6 draws, doubling their points to end up on 54 (and one place above us!).

But, of course, it's never as simple as that. Starting from where we are, we have to hope that at least three teams above us cock up as well - plus there's the '6 pointers' with other relegation candidates.
This is our run-in - '6 pointers' (bottom eight clubs, excluding Barnet) in green:
Bromley v Maidstone United Maidstone United v FC Halifax Town Solihull Moors v Maidstone United Maidstone United v Havant & Waterlooville Eastleigh v Maidstone United Wrexham v Maidstone United Maidstone United v Ebbsfleet United Harrogate Town v Maidstone United Maidstone United v Salford City Chesterfield v Maidstone United Maidstone United v Braintree Town Sutton United v Maidstone United Maidstone United v Aldershot Town Maidstone United v Barnet

I was looking at the run in the other day. A couple of crucial games against other struggling teams, if we win a few of the next games. But it still looks like a very big ask. The fightback has to start now, or not at all.

If we beat Stockport & get to the FAT Semi, then I reckon we're definitely down. A two legged semi, the diversion of a possible appearance at Wemberleee, no chance of ' concentrating on the league ' .

Putting my serious head on for the moment this is my take on the last games of the season. Bromley (a) it's Bromley 0pts Halifax (h) maybe a draw 1pt Solihull(a) they are flying 0pts Havent&w (h) sweet revenge 3pts Eastleigh (a)fancy this one 3pts Wrexham (a)nout in N Wales 0pts Ebbsfleet(h) Kent Derby 0pts Harrogate (a)tough but 1pt Salford (h)against 1st team 0pts Chesterfield (a)big crowd/game 3pts Braintree(h)We're on a roll 3pts Sutton(a)big el plastico 1pt Aldershot(h)fellow strugglers 3pts Barnet(h)might get a draw 1pt
That is a total of 19 pts approx 5 short and these predictions are me being ultra positive.

A visit to Wembley would be the best thing for me whether we stay up or go down

A visit to Wembley would be the best thing for me whether we stay up or go down It's a great debate - Wembley with MUFC or staying up ?. Personally, I'd take going to Wembley & winning the FAT. Let's face it, we aren't remotely good enough ( or strong enough as a club ) anyway to make a lasting impact in The National League. If we took 25,000 supporters & hangers on to Wembley, think what the club could do with that database of information & contacts.....

Realistically, we have to win our next two home games and get something from either Bromley or SM. That would leave us needing 17 points from the last ten games, which might start to look doable. However, this season's stats don't lie. The only teams we have beaten were either those in disarray at the start of the season, or second elevens, or lower leagues. Somehow, JS and HH need to find whatever it was a that enabled us to beat Macclesfield and Orient in the FA Cup and draw with Wrexham, who we really beat as well. Overall though can't say I'm that bothered. An improvement in form would at least make the rest of the season interesting, but the NLP for me has got ever more dull and predictable and certainly nothing like it was in the heady days of our first season just two years ago. We are in limbo land at the moment. We don't have the resources to compete at this level and it will be a complete rebuilding job if/when we go down. Not quite as bad a season as watching Fulham, Ipswich or Huddersfield, I suppose, but at least they are playing half decent opposition. Not sure there is much of that in our league, which really part of the problem.

given the hour of the original post I thought the thread related to: Staying Up - the period of time that's past your bedtime

Yeah I did something similar and got another 20 to finish on 46, which is sometimes enough to stay up... Good time of the season to be playing mid-table teams who aren't all that motivated - starting with Bromley? The other day I was talking to a Woking fan (who's also been a lino at a cup tie at the Gallagher...) who's really enjoying this season. Going down will not be the end of the world. Unless they put Oxford City in National North, in which case I'll be most annoyed.

As a fan of Whitley Bay fc,my northern team,I can tell you that a day out at Wembley is like nothing else on Earth especially if you win . I had the pleasure of going 3 years on the trot as the seahorses completed a hat trick of FA Vase wins and it would be incredible to see the Stones walk out There and so yes I would take Wemberlee over staying up.

We need to get 9 more points than 3 teams of about 5 that are just above us.
That seems more do-able, but would take a huge turn around in performance from, largely, the same group of players.

I've only been twice - England 0 Northern Ireland 0 (bit of a fix, meant both qualified for the 1986 World Cup at the expense of Romania) and was a glory-hunting fake Yellow at Oxford United's play-off win v York about 10 years ago. Seeing Maistone there would be amazing. Still toying with the drive to Stockport...

If you do drive leave plenty of time to navigate the millions of traffic lights in Stockport they are about every20 yards
