I have just come off of the phone to a friend in Caernarfon who's brother was In the Wrexham end and he apparently said that the Wrexham performance was their most impressive to date and they played us off the park. Anyone out there agree with that summation ?

To an extent. I thought they played very well until they reached our box, then they ran out of ideas, or were swamped by our huge defenders.

Makes you wonder how they are so high up the table and us so low. They certainly started well and played the best football I've seen at the G this season. However, from 30 mins onwards, we more that matched them, so much so they became increasingly error prone as the second half wore on. Swayne's own goal came from a shot that was all of 40 yards out, which shows how desparate they were getting and they didn't pose any threats afterwards. Hence fail to see how they were thought of as that good.

I believe that has all come about having Smith in goal. I was watching him from high up in the EE and his positioning and awareness and the we he commands set pieces just makes the defence more relaxed in my opinion. Second half I was over in the TE by side of the goal and he had that jammy shot covered. One bit of luck got them out of jail. Def 2 points dropped

Anyone out there agree with that summation ? If that was their most impressive performance to date and they were top of the league before the game, it just goes to say how much we have improved.
If we keep this up maybe looking to do what Fylde did last season.

I'd argue with the phrase "best football" - lots of possession and plenty of pretty passing (although often sideways and backwards), but very little end product. In the second half, I can't remember any serious goal threats from them - I actually thought, having gone level, they were playing for a draw (a crazy tactic, with the competition they've got for first place - they needed all three points). As for the goal, I don't think it was even a serious shot - Smith saw it coming and had it covered, and judging from his dive, he was expecting to go wide. Word from somewhere not unadjacent to the car park is that the ball actually came off two of our players, hence it's weird deflection.

Interesting comparison with Fylde last season. My first reaction was to laugh, but checking back over last season's tables made me realise how valid the comparison is (or could be).
Around this time last season, Fylde were 17th with 22 points - pretty much where we are now. But by the 2nd of April, they were in the play-offs, and still there at the end of the season. However, unfortunately, the parallel doesn't quite match up - at 17th Fylde were only 14 points from the top, and 9 from the play-offs, whereas we are 24 from the top and 16 from the play-offs. So it really would be something if we 'did a Fylde'.
Looking back at last season reveals some interesting contrasts with this one. For instance, when Fylde were struggling just a couple of places off relegation in early November, we were 5th - eight places above Tranmere! And Dover were topping the table - heroes to zeros in just one season. By the time Fylde passed us, we had dropped to 13th - on our way to a 19th place finish. And it was Dover who Fylde eventually replaced in the play-offs.
But if we had a dramatic fall, nothing quite beats Woking - 3rd in early October, relegated just over 6 months later. Taking the place of Solihull - currently basking at 4th – who have indeed 'done a Fylde'!

Any news on home ticket sales for the Wrexham game? In the unlikely event Wrexham fans moan about the ticket allocation, they took 198 away to Dover last season while chasing promotion.

I read that Wrexham fans are well unimpressed with their 500 ticket allocation. It does seem strange as its not as if Stones will sell the best part of 3,800 to home supporters. Can the club really afford to throw away £thousands of unsold tickets ? This no buying e-tickets policy is wierd.

Might as well give them the whole of the Genco end - let's face it, will be very unlikely that 2,400 Stones fans will turn up.☹️😭🥴😝

They’ve opened them up to online sales for a 48 hour window

Or in other words, in-person sales were rubbish.

Or in other words, in-person sales were rubbish. Either that or Wrexhsm fans aren't coming in the huge numbers expected.

Or in other words, in-person sales were rubbish. Not good PR to make your own fans trek to the stadium when they probably have better things to do, while tickling the tummy of your opponent's fans. Absolutely the right decision if the club wants a good attendance. If Wrexham come in the home end, our security friends might actually have to earn their money rather than just search pensioners' bags and tell young kids to move back from the barrier for no valid reason 😀
