Was waiting for this subject to raise it,s ugly head, whilst I agree that these friendly,s are basically to peak the players fitness I do wish we would fix more testing fixtures then we did last season, I think playing the likes of Bearsted Folkestone an Sevenoaks is not really stretching us, having said that I would love to see a match against Margate put in the diary this year.

It's nice watching a game in the sun, where the result doesn't really matter, and checking out the new players, but basically friendlies (as a spectator sport) are fairly pointless. And invariably, anyone who has a good pre-season fails to do much in the league!
But a 'friendly' against Margate would indeed be a mouth-watering prospect.

Anywhere we can have beers in the sun, I echo that sentiment.
Margate is the obvious one but Eastbourne or Southend away wouldn't be a bad one.

Must agree last season's friendlies were pretty disappointing affairs. On paper, Barnet was decent but we were undercooked and got smashed. Tonbridge match was rubbish. As for Crystal Palace, well we were outclassed by the youngsters when we had expected to play a first X1. Just seemed poor preparation for the players and not too exciting for the supporters. Hopefully 2018 friendlies will be better.

Saw an England friendly at Upton Park many years ago where they changed the entire side at half-time!

At the Halifax game , a well informed fan mentioned another friendly on the Continent and Spain was heard !. Any truth in this from the club anyone ?!?

Maybe we could play Palace again with our recent links from Coker And Phillips. With Roy in charge a former Stone maybe we will get some of the first team! Would be a good day out playing at Selhurst Park.

I'm sure the club will sort out the pre-season games with their usual diligence, but ...
let's get down to the important matters. What's the apostrophe doing in the thread title?
