Bloody hell we win a final and most of the crowd fucked off before we even lifted the cup! I don't normally moan about people leaving early, but it's not asking much for people to wait around an extra 10 minutes.

Awful game but still glad I went along to see us win the Cup. Felt rather sorry for Folkestone, a brave effort from them and an awful way for them to lose. I also thought it was a shame so many people dashed off rather than see the trophy presented. Seems rather disrespectful to the team we are supposed to support (regardless of how badly they played). Personally I got down to the touchline at the Genco end so I could touch the trophy when it was brought over, which I did. You don't tend to get to do that supporting a big team Funniest moment of the night? their spectator keeper being awarded the man of the match award. The only time he was called in to action was to save 4 Maidstone penalties, and personally I didn't think that went too well for him!

We won a cup and have some silverware for our efforts this season/campaign. But honestly, the squad found it difficult to put on a show of the prize-giving and Folkestone were a good matched opponent, so the level scoreline shows. Im glad we won something, but I left with my trusty crew and one of them made a comment about never being or feeling so lack-lustre over a win...of any sort...
but we won something.

There keeper deserved the accolade he had a very good game, i was going to say something about the support tonight but the crap that was going on between the 2 sets of supporters was at best cringeworthy, we have never had an issue with Folkestone and prior to the start of the game I was disappointed it was segregated however it was the correct decision, grown men encouraging younger supporters to goad the away supporters has absolutely no place within this club, I saw some supposed super supporters or those purporting to be acting like bloody idiots, you know who you are and you you should be ashamed However back to the game, we huffed and puffed but couldn’t find a wat through, Coker had a few good chances but couldn’t finish them off, thank good it’s the end of the season I need a rest before we go again next season

So you missed the double save from Finney in the first half, or the block from Paxman. Let's be honest, it was him or no one, none of the outfield players shone.

I thought we just shaded the 1st half but Folkestone were the better side in the 2nd. Very poor from us with only Finney and Wynter coming out of the game with any credit. On that performance it will be a major squad rebuild in the summer.

I’m praying Jay is ruthless in the summer 🙏🏻 I am going to proper sulk if some players get new contracts! That will of course not change a bloody thing other than my mood! Four players for me that simply are not good enough for this league are Reason, Prestedge, Anderson and DSY! Mr Saunders himself could probably do a better job in the middle with his ample mid section than Reason and Prestedge, would be harder to beat than Anderson and would finish more chances than DSY 🤭 I’m sure there will be fans of one of these players, but from what I have seen of them over the season I think we could afford and attract better players.

At one point fairly late in the game (around the time I was wishing that I'd dressed for late April in England and not last week's weather) my daughter was checking the NL scores and opined that the Torquay v Guiseley game must be the most pointless game of the season. Personally, I thought it came a distant second - I would much rather have seen 7 goals and a sending off.
Anyone who saw this game and who still wonders why most of the crowd left so early, needed only to look at the players' reactions at the end. They seemed as disinterested and embarrassed as I was. I just hope we put on a much better display on Saturday - I would hate this aimless, soul-destroying, farrago of a 'game' to be my abiding memory of the end of (even) this season.
Jay has a LOT of work to do over the summer.

I think im just reflecting my disappointment at how little we created overall.

What worries me is awhile back Jay was saying he doesn't think we need a big overhaul I really hope hes had a change of mind or Bill talks him round, because if we go into next season with most of this squad i cant see anything but relegation. Heck if it weren't for the goals Zavon & Pigs scored early on we would of gone down this season.

Instead of learning from the first season, and from the successes (and failures) of similar sized clubs, we chased the will-o-the-wisp of 'going full-time', as if that alone was the key. It clearly wasn't. But, having put all our eggs in that particular omelette, we ended up where those who follow the will-o-the-wisp invariable do - up to our necks in the smelly stuff, drowning, not waving. Only the fact that there were a few clubs even more clueless than us saved us.
Above all else next season, we need to build a squad that wants to play for Maidstone and wants to win. No more revolving door loanees, no more journeymen who have to check each game who exactly they are playing for at the moment, and no more shop window players, just waiting for the right offer so they can piss off and get more money elsewhere (or Chesterfield).
OK, reality dictates that we will inevitably have to settle for some of the above, but they should be careful and worthwhile additions to a solid squad, not most of the squad.

I can understand some leaving, but pretty much the whole crowd?? by the time the trophy was presented there was hardly anyone left in the ground......its no surprise the players looked so disinterested/embarrassed when they lift a trophy to a near empty stadium. I know the KSC is looked upon as a crappy/pointless competition, but at the end of the day a trophy is a trophy....Heck even when we won the Ryman League cup people atleast hung about to see the players lift the cup

You didn't miss anything. Stones dropped 2 levels of performance overall in a disappointing display. Midfield with Prestedge and Reason just seemed so slow and cumbersome. Jack Paxman easily our best player was subbed in second half and replaced by Phillips who was pretty anonymous on the night. Another below par effort from Loza. Decent enough efforts up front by Wraight and Coker but nothing special. Defence sound enough but thought Seth had a mare. But at least we knew how to take penalties ! Really Paxman our best player?? The guy who in my mind needed to show something ala his performance against Gillingham in this very competition, was poor, ok all three of our centre mids were poor, but Paxman was having the game pass him by putting everyone else under pressure, the amount of times he was 10+ yards the wrong side of his man when we were defending, Wraight and Coker were both deeper than him numerous times as Pax does not have the ability to read the game and no idea about positional play, yeah he's good when the ball is at his feet but even then he's prone to running into dead ends or falling over himself and giving away possession. The incident when he runs towards finney demanding the ball then switches off when it's played to him meaning we lose possession 25yards from goal is something he does far too often. I think in national south pax could be a very good player, but think that national is a step to high for him, as i said with the ball at his feet he can be creative but he doesn't have that ability to read the game and needs too many touches for the level we are currently playing, as was highlighted a number of times yesterday. I'm not usually one to pick out individual players and i personally would have taken off all three of our central midfielders at half time, as they all looked out of their depth. For what it's worth I'm struggling to find a motm.
