As supporters the objective should be to try and boost the gate above 3000 regularly toward 3500-4000 which is what is needed to maintain top national side. As for the team - it is clear that the club is not able to pay top full time wages - but as can bee seen by Daggers problems paying £1000 a week is suicide and if this is true clearly a waste of money. We can get the better part time players so maybe this is the way to go.
The team lost its spine when Piggott left and I hope that Jay can get the support to rebuild with a strong spine for next season- Good Centre Forward ( with goals) good centre Midfield Playmakers and Big Strong Centre Back. What has been clear this season is that the team has not been big enough, fast enough or smart enough compared to the rest of the league. I do not blame referees although the standard is terrible, with few exceptions. Sadly the team were not quite good enough in key areas, however they were committed and worked hard and cared so thanks are due to them and the management team. Of course we shall all be back next season - C'mon the Stones

While I welcome the building up of the ground, I do accept some of what Toon said in that he doesn't want to have a great ground in the Conf South. If we need to divert funds to playing staff to cement ourselves in the National then so be it. I welcome the idea that maybe the EFL is a pipe dream at the moment. Maybe we could simply save some budget towards developing the Riverside and do it a bit later, especially as crowds have dropped a bit. It would be depressing to have small crowds rattling around in a 6,000 stadium. The sort of infrastructure I am more interested in would be decent facilities (maybe having proper toilets at the Town End for example). The stadium capacity will not increase when the river side stand is built. Sorry, I sort of jumped around a bit there. Something was mentioned about 6,000 capacity when other works had been completed. I used the figure to emphasise a point rather than an accurate measurement of the next phase of development.

The worrying point is number 3; little or no profit. We know football is a bottomless pit to throw good money after bad. But somehow we convinced ourselves we had cracked it with the plastic pitch business model. No profits and lower season ticket prices mean a potential downward spiral if not handled very carefully. Jay is going to have to continue working miracles on a small budget at the lower end of the league. He and the owners deserve our continued support, no matter how tough that feels at times. The reduction in Season Ticket prices I think is meant to increase profits. There was little incentive this year to get a (ground only) season ticket and I would imagine sales were well down. And once you haven't got a season ticket there are games that you'll miss that you would probably go to if you'd paid for it already. That was true for me this year - although for me personal circumstances have meant missing more games so a season ticket still won't make sense for me, but for others it might.

Shift work makes it uneconomic for me to get a season ticket. I would buy a half season ticket allowing me to choose games if such a thing existed.

I'm sure that won't go un-noticed, but equally notable are the number of people spending their beer and pie money before they get to the ground. Reducing season ticket prices gets people into the ground for the football - the trick is to get them in there for their beer and pie or Bovril and Wagon Wheel as well.

I think the club made the decision to go more corporate than club house with the Spitfire lounge and perhaps that was the best financial route. However, the time when loads of supporters would drink there Pre-match has long gone.
We need a better squad and that means a better player budget, shrewdly spent and with decent contract clauses. Perhaps holding off, or half heartedly increasing ground capacity. A lot of grounds are terrible and a bit of brinkmanship here may assist towards the player budget.
It’s all about what happens on the pitch. I would guess we have lost 700 - 1,000 per home match because of our dismal form. The surprise being the supporter stayed up as well as it did but, did not increase.
Player budget x 10, we have got to get this right.

The riverside stand should see an increase in attendances simply by providing an better experience. Currently that side of the ground gives a decent view of the action to perhaps a couple of hundred people. The new stand will triple that and will also provide additional seating for the many people who currently can't get a seat in the main stand.

yes it will be interesting to see how well used it is used during the 19/20 season there is clearly a demand for additional seating, so the new stand will help a lot I imagine that the club will allocate some more places in the main stand to the opposition also I suspect a hundred or so season ticket holders will take the opportunity to transfer from the main stand either for a better viewing position (nearer the middle) and/or to get away from that infernal sun !

On the subject of the new stand, will the riverside are be shut? If it is then they will have to replan the whole segreagtion thing as fans would have to walk round past the main stand and through the segregation to access the majority of the Genco stand

Will be interesting to see what they have in mind for the town end stand. Would love this to be bigger than the Springfield end and incorporate all food outlets etc into the stand and also the changing rooms. This will then give the opportunity to increase the main stand closer to the spitfire lounge. After that I am guessing all the corners of the ground will be installed so all stands are then joined together?

I think an ambitious Town End stand was suggested some time back, but hasn't Oliver said something about scaling down the earlier proposals ? all a bit futuristic anyhow, as it may well depend upon an injection of new money plus the likely prospect of promotion to the EFL for the foreseeable, the plans mentioned seem pretty decent

The big benefit for the New Stand will be no sun-in-yer-face for the last or first quater of the season. A cap and a deent set of shades is a must this time of year in the MS.
