So, after all the anticipation on this Forum and in the club house. It would seem that Jay has signed some good? players to keep us in the league again this year - all be it on loan until March in 2 cases. How come there has been no reaction , or at least, some decent discussion on the signings ?? Only reply to Take 2 if you have any serious thoughts please. COYS

Striker, winger and centre back. Will be interesting to see who Jay 'discards' in favour of the new signings. Still think we can expect to see another defender (making too many mistakes and leaking goals) and probably a midfielder. But so far, so good !

Obviously some money has been and has had to have been put in to strengthen team to keep us in this league. Jay has said that after a few injuries that there has no back up players so perhaps most of players will be retained ? I think that it may be time now to just hold fire for a few seasons and just try to stay put so that the owners can take a financial breath and then move us up to the Football League again - which will happen sooner or later !? COYs.

Having said that they appear to be young and allegedly Man Utd supporters.

My reaction is relief that we should finally be seeing the end of the 'mid-season collapse', and once again start to enjoy our football.
But... We are still just plastering over the cracks. You don't build for the future by getting in emergency loans to avoid relegation each season. Two seasons in a row we've had to do the same thing - first season you can forgive, as I think the reality of the NL came as a bit of a shock to us all, but the same again the following season? Just bad luck, or lessons not learnt?
No doubt most of these signing will turn out to be the usual inspired deals that we almost expect Jay to pull off these days, and some will be persuaded to stay at the end of the season. Jay will then bring in a few new players and build his new squad round the core of the successful 'great escape' team from this season (sound familiar?). But what if the same thing happens again? Another cracking start, another 'mid-season' collapse, yet more emergency loans...
This isn't consolidation and building for the future, this is groundhog day.
Next season we need to give Jay a better budget (after all, we DO have the resources). I'm not talking Ricay-style spunking silly money on faded 'stars', or challenging for the play-offs, but enough to enable Jay to get decent long-term prospects in, and build a decent, sustainable squad round them. Then, hopefully, we won't be having this discussion yet again this time next season...

How come there has been no reaction , or at least, some decent discussion on the signings ?? Are you new around here? It won't take long for the "I've been to more home/away/Kent League games than you" brigade. As for the new signings, I don't know much about them. You can understand higher league clubs loaning us players, but not our National League competitors. Are numerous loan-signings to overcome a mid-season collapse the new normal? Whatever, let's welcome them and get behind the team.

Then, hopefully, we won't be having this discussion yet again this time next season... I agree with the fact that his is papering over the cracks as you put it. It’s understandable though. Season 1 was due to an unexpected promotion and the team deserved a crack at it and was well below the standard needed. Last summer saw a massive change. We had to sign up people to full time. This was the first time Jay and the board had done this and it showed. I thought they did a good job though. Retaining the players that kept us up was welcome and done well. Lewis, Seth, Pigs all did well so far. Reece, DSY have been ok and Loza is improving. Losing Flish and Mills (which all dragged on) and then Loza getting injured didn’t help. Then losing Lokko late in the day was a blow. I thought the new signings of Wynter, Hines, Anderson and Wraight (I know) were all good ones - and Finney is a class player. I also think JTH has the ability to be a success, albeit from the bench. Are always bound to be signings tthat don’t make the grade. So i think what you wrote is true but I think it was a decent stab at assembling a good competitive side. The backup was always a bit weak though. Plus, the outlay needed for the the new stand had to be rushed through and has been done excellently I think we can all agree. This Summer, we will, as a club, be one more year of experience at Full Time level and Jay will know what he wants and needs. So Papering over the cracks - maybe, but completely understandably.

You mention the Ter Horst signing I see. I think we can agree that his performances and strike rate have been below par. It would not be surprising to see another loan move but this time in the opposite direction

Is anyone surprised/disappointed we haven't signed a new goalie?

I'm apparently not as closely linked to positive results as some people for my enjoyment of supporting the Stones.
The question of playing budget has been discussed at length elsewhere however, repeating a view - with capital emphasis - on different threads doesn't necessarily make it true.

It would not be surprising to see another loan move but this time in the opposite direction If he can’t hold down a place with both Pigs and Hines out of the club, you’d think he will be looking to play some football regularly. He should probably drop down a league to then bounce back up with some confidence. Will be interesting to see if he goes on loan or permenantly. I’d say Jay doesn’t see him in the future plans. As for the comments above, re a goalie, I don’t see the great need in bringing a goalie in at this late stage. Worgs gets injured - we bring in an experienced loan. I’m not in the school of thought that having competition will improve Worgs form. Next year, we need to have a think about the situation. Not he isn’t captain of the side - that is easier to do.
