Does anyone remember a player called Dave Scott. He was my teacher at school. I went to his testimonial I think it was in Faversham. Talking about 10 -15 years ago he would of been playing. Was he any good?

Was he any good? Peter "Dave" Scott. The Ginger Baresi. Top bloke. Have lost touch with him now but he still lives in Bearsted and gets to games occasionally. I thought he was good until I played against him and nutmegged him before scoring. Anyone who's seen me play will be able to judge Scotty's ability on that alone.

I will have to keep a look out for him at The Gallagher. As his students we knew he played for Maidstone but he would never join in when we had training so we never knew if he was any good!
He once caught me in Society Rooms as a 15 year old. He called my mum the next day and banned me from the next school match!!

I would have Paul Bowden-Brown because he kept the club going when all seemed doomed and supporters had given up and cluttered off to do something else. He got us up and running again from nothing.

Based on hazy memory plus generous promptings from Fred Atkins excellent book, Dave Scott's best game for the Stones was undoubtedly the 0 - 0 friendly v's Gillingham on 12 March 2002. Due to injuries + competition from other players, Scotty only started 2 games ( + 9 subs ) in 2001 - 02.

There was a rumour going around at my school that Scott had nut megged Marlon King- would he have played in that friendly??

Difficult to argue with that, but, always with PBB, you have to qualify it - he laid the foundations for getting us home and he kept the club going, but he couldn't actually get us home and the club very nearly died towards the end. Compare and contrast our resurrection with other clubs who went under in the last 25 years and none of them took as long as us to get back to somewhere near where they were when we went bust. He initially saved us and kept us going, and found our wonderful new home (for which alone he deserves to be in any Hall of Fame), but it took Terry and Oliver (and Bill) to actually bring us home and, ultimately, save the club.
