Which ever club becomes the focus of everyone's attention due to financial backing, there will always be bitching from other supporters. If this had happened to Maidstone eveyone would be saying exactly the same. Get over yourselves and only start ripping the piss when a) Margate fail to perform on the pitch & b) when and if Bob Laslett walks away leaving an unsustainable future. Good luck Maidstone in your quest for promotion.........via the play-offs! Eeeeeeeeeexactly. I agree with our new friend, get over yourselves. Good luck to Margate. Margate Dover and Maidstone all top flight would make me happy. Bromley will be league 2 by then.

The next Southampton? You mean spiralling debts with a board who don't care about the club, with everyone deserting them like fleas leaving a sinking rat? Hold on....the bitter/twisted Pompey fan and his club of fake boardroom oligarchs and shysters has spoken!

It all looks good on and off the field for Margate. Pressure will be on to perform. TB has been there and done it, as have some of the players. It's ok having 11players, but they need to gel. Margate will be up there next season. I have met the chairman and I am sure he is in for the long haul. Come on you blues! With the signings that TB has made, I can't see anything but promotion for you. He is also a very shrewd and well respected manager and man. I come into this discussion not knowing anything about the new chairman other than that he is ex-Wolves. What is his connection to Margate? I guess the only good thing from a Maidstone point of view, is that as Margate climb the leagues, we can poach the players who are no longer good enough for you anymore!

Personally I'd rather be reading stories about money being thrown at Kent clubs than the regular "close to going bust" articles that normally appear. Despite being labelled "typical Maidstone scum" and reading "I hope they go bust again" I for one think Margate fans have had a lot to deal with over recent years so good luck to them, I hope they enjoy it and it brings a new injection of life and enthusiasm to the place. As for whether it will all end in tears, who knows? I genuinely hope not and to simply expect it to happen is on a par with "football should be played on grass etc" I don't respect the 80's views applied to our FIFA pitch so I'd be a hypocrite to expect Margate to end in tears based on previous failings. Good luck to them

If the new chairman wants to blow his money buying Margate promotion then good luck to him. I can think of worse things to spend it on. The only clubs that piss me off are those that spend a fortune on players while at the same time not paying the taxman, or in one recent case pleading poverty and appealing for handouts from fans to keep the club alive, and then operating with the highest wage budget in their division.

I find it strange that you dislike Man City because "they bought the premiership" (which nobody else has done!), yet when someone tries to do similar in our league it's "good luck to them"?

Fully agree tbh Also we too have had our fair share of mud slinging at us because of our good financial stability (jealousy and fear seemed to play a part in it I do believe but hey let em worry with green eye ) Good luck to margate I say and as echoed by a fellow stoner in an earlier post, it's nice to hear of a good kent club with potential of bettering them selfs instead of going bust. However I disagree we won't win the play offs, your lot will We,re gonna win the league Ian mate

Very impressive front line. All could do a job in the Conference.
You would expect they will now turn their focus to some defenders and wingers.
Dread to think who they are looking at.
Unless of course, they keep signing strikers and go for the classic 0-0-11 formation (my favourite).

Is Luke Moore really that good? Sounds great to get a player from the 4th tier to play for you in the 7th. A closer look at his goal scoring record (and yes, he is a striker) doesn't suggest he's that prolific. According to Wikipedia (yes I know not always 100% accurate, but I'm sure it's not far wrong), he scored 48 league goals in 266 appearances. That's a goal every 5.5 games. I'd imagine that a fair few appearances when young were as sub too, so that slightly distorts the figures. Highest number of league goals in a season - 9. Okay, dropping a few divisions, so you'd expect he'd score a few more, but that's not the sort of record to suggest he's going to bang in 30-40 goals next season, far from it.

I think you may have missed out refusing to pay a local rival team to groundshare with them and forcing them out of business as well.

It might get quite interesting if £800 a week Zac Atwood starts scoring more often than £2000 a week Luke Moore. Its all going to go Tits up down there I'm afraid.

The next Southampton? You mean spiralling debts with a board who don't care about the club, with everyone deserting them like fleas leaving a sinking rat? Or the next Brighton: vacating a dilapidated old ground and ending up in a groundshare at Gillingham! I suppose if you look at where Fleetwood Town were ten years ago there's a precedent for a club from a run-down seaside town prgressing from small crowds in the depths of non-league to teh Football League. It does appear though that they're already acting like a Conference National club without having the ground facilities or fanbase anywhere near the level needed, and there are so many precedents for clubs acting like that only for their grand vision never to reach fruition it's hardly surprising if people at other clubs are sceptical.
