I believe from recent press reports ( can't remember exactly where ) the FA wrote to the FL asking them to review their position. Sent from my HTC Desire C using Tapatalk Hello Daveu - thanks for that. All of the reports I've seen simply quote the Conference statement. It does give us food for thought - I would expect that the Conference must have sought agreement from the FL, before issuing any statement.Or is the complete silence from the FL a sign that they're rather teed-off at the Conference for letting the 'cat-out-of-the-bag', as it were?... The NLP this morning confirms that Greg Dyke spoke to both the FL and Conference, and it looks like there may well be another vote, although it may now be too late for next season. Crucially, in my opinion, is the conference Chairmans statement that all along they have been waiting for leadership from the FA along.
And believe it or not he wanted that all along?
Strange considering just a few weeks a go the very same paper had a statement with the headline "we will not be blackmailed"

Strangely us winning the playoffs could effect the vote. Will the club chairman who's club finished 3rd bottom be lobbying other chairman for a reprieve from relegation?.A NO vote might save a Tonbridge,Chelmsford or Maidenhead etc.Old pals act Mk2 !

Is everyone ready for another laughararma at the conference and their unFAIR/unEQUAL voting system which is 100% common sence proof? ? If so what about a trip to Birmingham in June when we've been given the snub AGAIN Return of the Farce!!!

Just as an aside, you remember that big spending team we played last year who then went on to win Conference South? Salisbury City
Well they've announced they can't sustain the current funding structure so have appealed for additional investment......thus proving yet again the need for a football club to live within it's means and have a sustainable business model and not rely on wealthy money men.
Anybody know of any business models that meet this criteria?

Could be, I'll give you another clue.
This is a business model that is allowed in the professional leagues in many footballing nations but isn't allowed in the top two divisions at the semi pro level in this country

Anybody know of any business models that meet this criteria?
"Last year our training pitches adjacent to the stadium were sold by the MOD to Persimmon, with the permission of Wiltshire Council. This meant both our first team and around 400 children associated with the club – had to look for training facilities elsewhere."
Said business plan must therefore work out how to fund training facilities and pitches for 400 children as well. No ideas here!
"Despite all of this, Salisbury City continues to operate at a loss. Despite frequent and ongoing initiatives within the community, the gates this season average below 1,000. These crowds are simply too low to sustain a club at this level.
Whilst the team flourishes on the pitch"
It does seriously make you wonder why there is no attempt to live within their means (on the pitch). If your crowds are too small to finance the team you want, then you cant have it and must get the team that you can afford, even if it means you are relegated (to a level where you can afford a team that competes!). I find it tough to have much sympathy.......
And they're even talking about promotion to league 2 .... if you cannot sustain conference football, why would you be able to sustain league football?

I think it is appalling that a team who obviously are punching above there weight in the financial stakes are dreaming of league football, this will all end in tears, Christ they went bust a few years ago and have somehow managed to get themselves into a similar position, don't these people realise that they have hit a level way above where they should be and maybe lower their expectations, better to be playing in a league a couple below the conference than having no team whatsoever
