We attracted hundreds of new fans due to the FA Cup run. The families turned up for Yeovil and didn’t return. The low IQ teens pretending to be hard are growing in number and confidence. They’ve had a setback this week, losing their Facebook monopoly. But they are going to cause problems long term if not nipped in the bud. Although the Hemel fans had their number singing “we saw you run from the Yeovil”. We had a crowd of over 2400 today, this season we would normally get around 2000ish for a Saturday game against a team with hardly any away fans. Even on Tuesday our crowd was up by 300-400 from our usual midweek crowds. So some of these "new" fans have stuck around for the moment.

Lots of 'fans' in the Spitfire watching the rugby.
Why pay to see a football game and then sit indoors and watch rugby??

And these are the problems. We play well against Yeovil, it is as exciting a league game as we've had this season, but elements of supporters from both sides in the Genco make arses of themselves, meaning some new recruits don't return today. Against Hemel, the children in the Genco are still being dickheads, while on the field, the team suddenly go from being a great advert for themselves to a poor one. Wonder how many will turn up for our next game?

Ive never understood this Even when the rugby isnt on you see people in the bar drinking just watching the TV why the football is on outside.....surely if you have no intention to watch the football you could just go to any cheaper pub and not have to pay to get in.

Even allowing for minus 300 Yeovil fans, that’s 400 who tried it and didn’t come back after the trouble. There were definitely fewer families with children and a higher percentage of teens. I really hate the split terracing. It does no favours to our reputation.

Wonder how much we pay a steward for several hours work on a Saturday afternoon before they move onto their evening nightclub gig. Multiply that figure by ten for how many stewards were necessary to patrol the barrier for the visit of 32 peaceful Hemel fans. Plus the losses from laying on food and drink provision and extra turnstile operators. If it’s £1000 a game, that means 58 adults paying the full £17 to pay for the barrier and unpleasant atmosphere that deters families who would have brought in even more money. This has crept up on us gradually, almost unnoticed. No wonder our attendances had plateaued before the cup run. I wouldn’t bring my young kids to the Gallagher. youtu.be/gEWkIetN-ZE?si=n6nOiiBDcai9VbxxNo barrier and plenty of room to move around. In 2021 this fixture was unsegregated and we were chatting to them in the bar. Incidentally, some great goals.

In the post match interview, George seems pretty sanguine about our performance. Perhaps a case of recognizing three games in seven days is one too many. There was certainly no sparkle and the only advantage of being in the Town End was staying dry as all the action was at the other end in both halves.

We ran out of gas after 15 minutes. Even Mo Faal was not giving his full yesterday. At least we have no matches midweek.

It does not look good that that we play Coventry only 2 days after the Weymouth game,
I am not convinced that the behaviour of the Yeovil fans made much difference to the gate. Yeovil were runaway leaders and we had just made a giant killing. It was a game that would attract some of the new supporters or the curious. For those who made a first visit for the Yeovil game and stood around the perimeter, I would suggest they were disappointed by the view and the prospect of standing out in the rain on Saturday was the reason they did not show. If we are to attract bigger crowds that needs to be addressed.
I support Oliver's idea of banning fans from troublesome clubs and opening up the Genco

And, more importantly, old gits like me in the MS can't reach the nearest toilets!! If they feared the behaviour of those highly dangerous Hemel Ultras, they shouldn't let them in. If they fear the behaviour of some of 'our' idiots, ditto. Until we bite the proverbial bullet and stop letting known idiots and trouble makers into games, we're going to keep having these problems. And, if we do need to segregate, don't put the opposing fans together - put them at opposite ends of the ground. It's how most clubs do it and it's not exactly rocket science. What is wrong with MUFC that we can't just sort this problem out??

All the time we have incompetent Star security services and a health and safety manager who is out of his depth running things it will continue to be a shambles, both need to be removed at once.

Highlights from the wrong side of the pitch. youtu.be/YvKXvUEWlZQ?si=6Q0w4VzsCWqW0Fx1How depressing to see the reaction from our dunces who instantly turn to the 32 away fans instead of celebrating with the rest of the home supporters.

What a strange game the highlights show. How many clear chances did we have in the first hour? Six? Seven? How many did Hemel have in this time? One. How many clear chances did Hemel have in the last half hour and how many did we have? See above. We really should have been out of sight by soon after half time.
