Just realised we now have three home league games on the bounce over the next week Yeovil, Torquay and Hemel Hempstead. Yeovil are of course top by miles, but their away form is 'only' 3-2-1 with 7-7 on goals. We got a draw in the away game, so don't have the 'double' bogey hanging over us, so maybe there is the chance of a point or three? If not, then the next two games become important if we don't want to drop out of the play offs. Had our 5th round cup game been at home, then you'd think the club would want to cash in by issuing vouchers, with a requirement of two out of three to get a cup ticket. However, being away and not knowing which until next week, renders that unnecessary, though it would have been a great way to get three full houses... It would be great if 3000+ welcomed the cup heroes home on Saturday, so hope that is not wishful thinking.

I don't think that's feasible to do the voucher scheme.
I'd take 6 points from 9.

With the weather set fair I don't think 3000+is out of the question,if Chatham can get 2018 on a Tuesday then 3000 should be our minimum. Depending on just how knackered our players are after last week then i think a home win is very plausible as you say their away form is not to good so why not get the 3pts. I think if we are serious play off contenders we need 7 out of 9 pts from these games anything less will put us on the back foot for the rest of the season. The bookies cannot split us with both teams 3/2 to win and the draw 9/4.

Our match against Yeovil on Saturday is our league match no. 30 but only our 5th match to fulfil each of the following 3 criteria: 1) a league match, 2) at home, & 3) on a Saturday
The others: Aug 03 Slough (opening day) Sep 23 Worthing Oct 21 Farnborough Dec 23 Chippenham

There's a kind of Huish, all over the world tonight... Quite by chance, I've just come across this - from our Conference promotion season. I have no memory of this game beyond the ridiculous slope of the pitch - we were standing about half way on the lower side, and so the game constantly slid down the slope towards us! The "KC" on the back page, where I've crossed out Tony Rogers is Ken Charlery. I don't know who replaced Noel Ashford. Attachments:

Incidentally, when we visited that year, Yeovil were one of only 4 non-league clubs to have got to the FA Cup 5th round since the war:
1948 - Colchester United (Southern League) - lost 0-5 away to Blackpool
1949 - Yeovil Town (Southern League) - lost 0-8 to Man U
1978 - Blythe Spartans (Northern League) - drew 1-1 away to Wrexham, lost replay at home 1-2
1985 - Telford United (APL) - lost 0-3 away to Everton
When we play them on Saturday, that number will have risen to 9:*
1994 - Kidderminster Harriers (Conf) - lost 0-1 home to West Ham
2011 - Crawley Town (NL) - lost 0-1 away to Man U
2017 - Sutton United (NL) - lost 0-2 home to Arsenal
2022 - Boreham Wood (NL) - lost 0-2 away to Everton
And some other team in 2024, whose name escapes me...
(*I'm not counting Luton Town (2013) and Lincoln City (2017), as, although NL teams at the time, I don't regard them as non-league.)

Incidentlly (2) - in the first 30+ years after the war, there were just 2 non-league sides to reach the 5th round, and in the following 30+ years, there were just 3. Only 5 teams in 65 years. Once ever 13 years on average.
But, in the 14 most recent years, there have been 4 (6 if you count Luton and Lincoln). Once every 3.5 years on average - almost four times as often.
Just goes to show how much better the top non-league clubs have got (and how much harder the leagues).

We are three points away from avoiding relegation.

A little perspective - points based table (games in hand in brackets):
66 Yeovil Town (2) 65 64 63 62 61 60 59 58 57 56 55 54 53 Worthing (1) 52 51 Chelmsford City (2) 50 49 48 47 Maidstone United (2) 46 Aveley, Hampton & Richmond Borough (3) 45 Torquay United (3), St Albans City (2) 44 Bath City (3) 43 Hemel Hempstead Town 42 41 Braintree Town (3), Tonbridge Angels 40 Slough Town (1) 39 Weston-super-Mare (2) 38 Chippenham Town (2), Weymouth (2) 37 36 Farnborough (2) 35 34 Dartford (3), Truro City (6) 33 32 31 Taunton Town (5) 30 29 28 27 Welling United (2), Eastbourne Borough (1) 26 25 24 23 22 21 Dover Athletic (1), Havant & Waterlooville (1)
It shows not only just how far out of touch Yeovil are, but also how precarious our play-off position is. We may think we've survived the recent Cup games and indifferent league performances OK, but, in reality, our position is pretty weak. We need maximum possible points over the next fortnight, including a win tomorrow.
It also shows just how much poo the bottom four are in. If the clubs imediately above them win just a couple of their games in hand, the bottom four are effectively down already,

The prediction league thread doesn't have much faith. However, we do have a forward line, of sorts, for today's game and with Lamar Reynolds now knowing where the goal is (and how to find it), we may yet prosper!

A lot of new faces attending their second ever game? Hope they stick around. Sooner or later Yeovil have to lose and we have to win a league game again. Sticking with my 2-1 home win, but thinking my attendance prediction could be too low.

2-0! And we deserve it.
Yeovil more than capable of coming back though.

Our best first half this season? Certainly a great first half hour, even if it got a bit disjointed after that. Yeovil may move the ball around well, but they don't like being hustled and we've been all over them like rash at times. Some of their fans can't take it either. A very aggressive bunch top middle in the Genco, with one particular bell end in a white top spending much of the game waving his fist at our children - who, so far, have stayed within bounds. Stewards having to work hard, but where are the police? Several of the Yeovil mob need chucking out. Fantastic crowd that looks like 3000, or maybe more. Most of the season ticket holders here too!
