Great first half. Properly ticking. Faded a touch but still an even second half. Last 10 was nervy as usual.
The idiots from both sides who were goading each other through 90 minutes for their little bit of excitement. I’ll leave it to those nearer the incident to judge but it makes me smile a bit when you spend all that time giving “come here” hand gestures and then they finally do. Wanna be Green Street hooligans in both colours.

Great win. First half was best Stones have played all season.
Love the Faal and Rush partnership. Thought Corne was excellent as always but special mention to Raphe coming and performing well. On to Tuesday.

Yeovil only came into the game once the ref put a green shirt on in the second half. Matt Rush was clattered so many times without getting a foul it was ridiculous.
Also ridiculous were the 30-40 Yeovil 'fans' whose behaviour was just pathetic. Yeovil football team conducted themselves well enough, but those fans need to wake up and grow up. They are miles clear at the top of the league and their team deserve better.
As for Stones, suspect Team George decided to do an Ipswich in the second half and let Yeovil have the ball behind two rows of five, looking for a break away goal. Might have worked if we hadn't been a player down with the ref playing for Yeovil.
Thought Sam Corne organised things really well and Rush ran his heart out up front, but another great shift from the whole team.

Very much a game of two halves. We bossed the first half and went in at half-time deservedly two up - best I've seen us play in weeks (in the league!). But second half, we mostly just chased the ball and kicked and rushed. Partly this was down to Yeovil - they weren't phased at all about losing, they just played on - always dangerous and likely to score at any minute. You can see how they are top - no stand-out players, no particular talent, but they just remorselessly grind through the game, they could easily have scored 2 in the last few minutes. I actually found that last ten minutes more stressful than Ipswich. Rare f**k-up from Covolan too - obviously been reading his own notices.
As for us - George seems to have done a good job rebuilding the squad, but we haven't yet started playing as a team, still too many new players, not yet settled in, and too many changes (both starting and subs). But, once we do settle down and find our pattern and self-belief, I think we'll be unbeatable.
Those who don't want promotion to the NL might be in for a nasty surprise.

And, now the new TV gantry has been covered, it looks a bit OTT - more like a prison camp watch tower than a TV gantry! I hope they are at least going to add some finishing touches in yellow...

The problem is that I couldn't remember when we restarted, so I thought we'd played about 95 minutes before they even announced the additional time! Wait until you getto 70, Sword - there's a lot more to worry about than telling the time and counting to 3! |
