Freddie Sears to Chatham is a bit of a mad signing Well if he maintains his goal scoring record over the past 2 seasons, then Chats may as well release him now.

I can only think that Chatham meets their ground grading criteria and local clubs are either unwilling to share or their grass pitches cannot handle 2 teams with the possibility f more rainfall problems ahead. I agree though it seems silly and will doubtless cist a lot of money with decreased early season income.

More to the point, why does it take FOUR months to install a 3G pitch?
And why do it just as the season starts???

More to the point, why does it take FOUR months to install a 3G pitch? And why do it just as the season starts??? I guess there is a limited number of specialist contractors who can undertake the installation, and they were already fully booked during the summer months. Three Bridges announced their intention to convert to 3G before the end of last season, but some clubs announce these plans a year in advance. They have also annexed a women's club that was previously playing at Horley Town, and will continue to do so until the new pitch is ready, but I doubt that ground has a Step 4 grading. It does seem a bit weird this has been announced at such short notice, but it's only a couple of weeks ago that Potters Bar Town made a similar announcement regarding a ground share at short notice pending their own conversion to 3G.

Charlie Austin signing for step 7 AFC Totton is one of the strangest signings I think we will see
He literally scored 14 goals for Swindon Town last season in League 2.

Well that was the plan, but then the whole team had to fly to Prague for Nev’s stag do, that took a week, and when we got back the suppliers had sold your new pitch to Potters Bar, so we got put back in the queue. Then on second inspection we found you are sitting on clay, so that’s going to take extra time to prepare, and then of course the weather has put us back, and when Nev got struck by lightning we had to take a fortnight off for the funeral. But all good now, you’ll have a brand new pitch by April. Did I say Christmas? Obviously I meant Easter, you must have realised that…..
