National League North side Chorley Town may have new owners soon as Irish band Boyzone and Brian McFadden are in takeover talks ,maybe we can talk Chicory Tip into buying us. The son of my father agrees Nice. I was trying to work that into a reply - but gave up!

Well most of you on here know where I stand on players wages and club loyalty to players and vice versa but what I've just read make me seethe for several reasons. Former Maidstone FA Vase opponents North Leigh, the place where a local landowner threatened to set his dogs on supporters and then threatened to shoot me with his loaded shotgun, have had their ground graded this week and it has failed the next level and so despite riding high in the league they will be denied promotion to the Southern Premier league. A ground that hosts matches in front of 300 is refused promotion because it doesn't hold 10 times as many. There were other matters that could easily have been dealt with by a cut off date . The club informed the manager who in turn informed the players who had a meeting and the outcome was 50% of the playing staff upped and fucked off, quitting the club mid-season and left them struggling to raise a team for today's game. The club has made it clear that existing wages would have been paid to the end of the season but the glory hunting players quit fir greener pastures,it makes my f**king blood boil. I feel for North Leigh shafted by the FA an then by their players.🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

Nigel Clough's Mansfield beat Harrogate 9-2 last night. Nobody sent off, but the Stags just clicked, apparently. Perhaps almost as remarkable, Harrogate let in eight earlier this season, but are just outside the play offs in L2.

If they had stayed up last season and this, they would have been demoted anyway as happened to handful of other clubs before. (I read this on "X" so hope it is true). I can understand the need to have a certain standard of ground but I think they should be very simple until you get to the level were are at. Why create barriers?

Ironically, I believe they got promoted (2022?) via the play-offs, which they only qualified for because a team (Welwyn GC?) who’d finished above them were barred from the play-offs due to ground grading issues Yet another victory for the Blazers 😔

Contrast that with Sturminster Marshall of the Dorset Premier League, they’ve lost all 21 of their opening fixtures, scoring just 6 times and conceding 222 goals

Contrast that with Sturminster Marshall of the Dorset Premier League, they’ve lost all 21 of their opening fixtures, scoring just 6 times and conceding 222 goals They could be right on that. Man City won 21 straight 2020-21 Apparently the record is held by The New Saints 27 matches in Cymru Premier League 2016-17 It could be argued that they are an English team since they play at home in Oswestry Shropshire. There again it could be argued that they are half English half Welsh since they are the result of an amalgamation of Oswestry FC and Llansantffraid FC Powys. But who knows ??!!!

Sad news reaching Swordy towers that K Sports are set to fold at the end of the season. The club has informed the league of their withdrawal and this leaves Welling Town as the primary club using Cobdown.

I think Greenways play there too. APM were always a good club through my years of playing and watching Kent football. If we won the lottery and ended up in the Football League, it would be a good sight for a training base. Pie in the sky dreams.

I remember seeing John Shepherd score a century for Kent Seconds there; he was trying to recover form. They also had this bowler who seemed tremendously fast to my young eyes, Bob Woolmer by name.

Indeed. I saw his debut for Kent at the Mote, when he managed to run Stuart Leary out, but went on to score 50.
