Just realised that 17 games didn't include the win against Orient in the FA Cup or the FA Trophy games against Woking where we won the replay. So Wheeler actually had 6 wins in 20 games.

It was disappointing for sure But to lose a goal with only 10 men on the field And to lose another when Corne was injured Was unfortunate to say the least Subs didnt work so well today either. Goals are still conceded much too easily But plenty of decent football played Which seems to have been overlooked by some posts in the disappointment of the result. Probably something to do with not getting any points for playing some decent football...

Trying to compare Wheeler and Hak is a nonsense.
Wheeler would have been given longer had he a) got us promoted into that league b) not ripped the heart out of the side c) had an air of knowing what he was doing.

The is the World of difference between Wheeler and Hak.
One is a thoroughly likable and decent bloke and the other an arrogant dick-head.
One build a championship winning team that gave Stones supporters a huge amount of pleasure, the other just wrecked the team and the club.
One built up a load of brownie points and credit, the other left the club with nothing.
Some of our supporters need to show a bit more Christmas spirit and loyalty to Hak.

Well said Nick.
We win together (very occasionally) and we lose together

Hak will be feeling the results more than anybody.
The pressure is very much on him.
Tbh I find some of the comments in this thread sickening.
Support the Stones, support Hak.

Strange game: looked very comfortable for most of it. I thought Barham was excellent and we pushed forward really well.
But the substitutes were odd - was Booty injured? If not, why take off the one player who could hold on to the ball? Galvin was injured but Faowle not the most obvious replacement.
The last five minutes were chaotic though and we completely lost any shape or dicipline. At the corner Gallagher was completely unmarked in the six yard box and didn't seem to be able to believe it himself, and then BJT beat two defenders to a header, which can't happen very often.
As for Hak, there's got to be a 100% belief that someone could do better with the same players or can find players that have not previously been identified. I don't actually think there's any enthusiasm in the club to get rid of him because there isn't that belief.

I remember well enough Bill explaining to supporters why the club sacked Jay. It was to "give us all hope" What a load of bollocks that turned out. Yes the team has been struggling for a while, albeit with some upturns between the defeats. At best I think Hak has got a 50% chance of escaping the drop for the team. To do that we still need to improve by at least 10% in performances, particularly our defending. But I want Hak to be given a chance to finish the job he started. He has made mistakes, he's not perfect. If we do get relegated with him in charge to the end of the season, I can live with that. If he manages to get us out of the hole, so much the better. Life goes on.

Right, deep breath. In some ways, I would be happy to watch us play Dorking every week. Both teams have terrible defences (they have actually conceded one more goal than us) and seem to enjoy tearing into each, so it mostly makes for an entertaining game - until we get someone sent off. Elokobi last season, now Corne and Greenidge this. And then it all goes tits up and we lose. Post match with the KM, Hak (apparantly close to tears) was bemoaning Greenidge for his second yellow, which certainly looked silly, plus Ghandour and Fawole for not doing what they were told when sent on as subs, which, he says led to their late goals. Ok, that is annoying for any manager. But, Fawole came on for Galvin, who was injured. Ellul for Booty though? Fine, as we had just had our centre back sent off, but why withdraw Booty? Surely one of the front players if you want to protect your lead? Then Ghandour comes on in the 88th minute, replacing Barham, but leaving Odusanya on the bench Why? How does that improve things? Certainly didn't help when Corne immediately got injured - though nobody could predict that, of course. I like Hak, he seems a decent bloke, but more and more his decision making is muddled and smacks of desperation. Maybe he gambled on hoping we might score a third, but clearly that didn't pay off and what should have been a famous victory became a horrific defeat. Credit Dorking for keeping going, but our game management has become very questionable and unlike Dorking, we don't have a 25 goal striker available to balance out the soft goals. 53 conceded in 24 games and 32 players on our books. It's all a bit of a mess.

Talking about Harry Wheeler I see he seems to have turned his back on football.
He now owns and manages a cocktail bar/cafe and a specialist travel business.
Apparently doing ok.

The post match interview was a bit of a car crash. Hak had a right moan at Greenidge for getting sent off and criticised the subs for not doing their jobs. Fair enough to a point but blindingly obvious Hak got his game management wrong too. Luckily I wasnt there last night but still very saddened by the result. The only plus is we apparently played some good football and should have come away with 3 points. Not all is lost.

Just pointing out some of the differences between Hak and Wheeler, not between Hak and Jay. There again, I did not agree with the sacking of Jay either and we all know how well that turned out. Pretty sure that our owners will have learnt lessons from past experiences. And a Merry Christmas to you too !
