Watching in person last night, we were a joy to watch for 60 - 70 minutes. Easily the best we've played this season - aggression, desire, methodical and our timing was immense both in the tackle and going forward. Game completely changed when Greenidge went, but you can't blame him. A gutting defeat, everyone just completely switched off at the end for the goals unfortunately. Take nothing away from the boys last night though, they were absolutely brilliant.
Up until his red card, Greenidge was probably in contention for man of the match, alongside Galvin who was absolutely sensational on the left (he would keep Luque out of the side when he plays like that) and Lawson, who was fantastic - worked so hard and was that little bit of bite we've been so badly missing.
Hard to know what to take from that one. Best performance of the season, but seemingly lost two players to injury for a while and somehow didn't win. Frustrating.

Hak will be feeling the results more than anybody.
The pressure is very much on him. On this, the away dressing room is right by the exit to the away end. Leaving after most last night, you could hear Hak laying into the team as you left. Hak was INCANDESCENT with rage. So so so angry with how thing ended and I sympathise with the boys who were on the end of it because he had clearly completely lost his head. He'd gone. 'You C*** this' and 'You're a f****** disgrace that' etc. With the 4 or 5 other people there at the time, we all agreed it seemed a bit harsh. Team were scintillating and the ethic and everything was there until the red card, but he was clearly angry at how we'd switched off and surrendered 3 points. Whether his reaction was wrong or right, I don't know, but I wouldn't have liked to have been on the end of it, that's for sure.

The performance was def much better than the result.
Hak was probably hopping mad that he got his subs totally wrong.
What could go wrong, went wrong, sadly.

Not the way to treat players though. Danny King yes (bet he was feeling smug), but not Hak. The players did everything right for 90 minutes and probably deserved a bit of sympathy. Suspect Hak increasingly feels his job is on the line.

There's a bit of self-deluson going on here. The boys didn't play the best we've ever seen, they weren't scintilating, they lost a game that they had wrapped up 2-1 at full-time.
That isn't 'best' or 'scintilating', that's relegation.
It doesn't matter how pretty you play if you can't dig in after a sending off or serious injury, or if you switch off for 6 minutes and concede two goals.

As for Hak. I've never spoken to him, so I don't know if he's a nice bloke or not (Jay certainly was, but that didn't seem to do him any good), but I do know I've given up watching his appalling post-match interviews, where it never seems to be his fault or responsibility. Hak's had several indifferent seasons with us, one good one and, currently, one car-crash - is that a pedigree that entitles him to 'loyalty'? I don't want a manager I feel loyal to, I want one that's going to keep us in the NL. That's his job - it's as simple as that. And, at the moment, it doesn't look like he can do it. I most certainly don't owe him another half season to see if he can sort things out. I don't bloody owe him anything. I, and several thousand other supporters, pay his wages, and we pay those wages on condition that he does his job well. If he can't do that job, he should go.
I'm not anti-Hak, I'm not (normally) in favour of sacking managers, I'm purely judging him on his ability to do his job. Which is quite simple - to keep us in the NL. And, at the moment, that isn't looking likely. Were it not for games in hand, we'd be in the relegation zone - and it looks very likely that at least two of the teams below us will not be there for long. And anyone who's watched football for any length of time, will tell you that, if you're as deep in the shit as we currently are at Christmas, you're pretty fucked. Unless you do something drastic to sort it out.
So, let's have no more of this talk of 'loyalty' or 'giving him a chance', or bollocks about last season (it's only ever this season that matters). Jay went because the owners didn't believe he could do his job (despite 3 promotions and two season in the NL - not just one good NS season), and the Clown went because he clearly couldn't do his job, what's so special about Hak?

Well Jdl you forget that Hak has been in the NL before,he is experienced and knows what he is doing. Have you forgotten Jdl that this is the man whose hard work and experience kept Braintree in the bottom 4 four for a whole season and, and I think I'll just sit in a corner and shut up.

Disagree JDL - from where I was, that first half was a stride away from most performances this season. Playing well and losing last night is different to playing badly and losing like the weekend. There were signs of life, something to cheer. I don't think it's delusional to want to see the team playing attractive football. We didn't win, no, and do that enough times and we will be relegated but I'd rather go down swinging playing the best football we can than hoof ball like previous games.

At least the forward areas seem to be working again. I know we did adapt to a very negative approach for a few games, to try and right the ship but we have opened it up again and we are scoring and looking dangerous.
The new goalie made a few good saves and had one dodgy moment and I am sure he will be solid. Once he gets to know the team, I hope he will command them a bit.
The defence (and midfield when defending) can't seem to maintain 90 minutes (plus 5) of concentration. The number of free headers in the box hasn't improved from the early season. We allow too many crosses in. Last night we fell apart a bit so it's hard to judge.
It's tough to dominate large portions and then end up empty handed.
Hak needs to take a breath and hold his tongue as blaming the players in public is a slippery slope in my opinion. I know this goes against the wish for the post match interviews to have more substance but I don't agree with it.
If you looked in isolation at this game and our results, you'd be able to say we are moving in the right direction with some points being picked up. Obviously we all know a home loss to Altringham and and away loss from a winning position against fellow relegation rivals is not ideal!
But even the losses to Eastleigh and Woking were not without their positives but the same problems at the back can be levelled at the squad.

Ironically, after he left Braintree in 2018/19 season to join us, Braintree actually improved and ended up finishing above us that season.

Here we go again, lets sack the manager and roll the dice.
Some people never learn from previous mistakes

Maybe its the spirit of Christmas that beings out the 'Anti Christ' in JDL.
Was he at the game last night ?
Doesn't sound like it.
Oh but there again if we dont agree with him we're all deluded.
There was plenty to enjoy and appreciate last night.
And then there was the other bit !

Can I nominate JDL for the Stones 'Mr Grinch' award ths Christmas.
I appreciate that he has 2/3 close contenders, but strangely enough the early season favourite (swordy) is just not in the running.

It seems to have happened loads of times. Game management has crashed yet again. Cost us up to 10 points I reckon.
