Are we seeing the end of the Ash/Casey era? Based on no evidence whatsoever. It’s been an amazing twelve years, but nothing lasts forever. And there must come a point where it’s just not fun anymore. Whatever happens this season, history will judge them well. To use an old phrase “I’m just glad we’re playing in the town” and don’t care much what level. But there is a newer fan base with Premier League attitudes who think football owners should be judged on how much money they throw down the drain. They seem to be finding their voice and gaining in confidence. Then they need to f**k off and support a premier league club rather than destroy something Oliver and Terry worked so hard to build.

I wholeheartedly agree with that statement.

Last time we lost a stadium to chase glory we left town for 20 years. If that happened again, what age will most be on this forum before they see another home game in the town? That’s assuming there are any plots not covered in housing by then.

Good post Dave u. I don't expect the abuse from these glory hunters will go on much longer as I think they will someone else to support when they realise that we won't be champions again. They only support successful teams

That’s assuming there are any plots not covered in housing by then. If it took as long as last time, I won't be seeing it. This is something that has stayed with me since Thompson sold the ground. There were lots of older supporters you used to see at every home game, and I doubt if any of then lived lomng enough to see the club come home. And most of them couldn't do the trip to Dartford, so never even saw another game. To me, this is probably Thompson's greatest 'crime'. Ultimately, the club is the supporters - we are the only constant factor. No owner or CEO has the right to take their club away from those supporters, no matter what his intentions, good or bad. Thompson dreamed dreams, but Elvis never lived to see his club come home, and the old lady who used to stand in front of me in the Scotsman stand at every game, never saw her club play again. The sooner the FA, the PL and the NL reasise this truth, the quicker we'll get football back to where it should be again. Football isn't a multi-million pound industry, a TV brand, it's watching your local club every other Saturday.

Some of the aggressive young fans demanding instant results might want to consider. If it happened again, they would be middle aged before seeing football in the town. They wouldn’t get to take their children to their first game. Or if they did, it would be in front of 200+ at Sittingbourne against New Romney, instead of 2000+ in the centre of town in a modern stadium. Worried about not playing Oldham and Southend every week? Here are your future opponents:

We were out of town for 10-12 years

I see Needham put our result into its true perspective by getting stuffed at Stratford Town on Saturday ☹
