But at least Stevenage tried, we didn't I have seen some dire games this season, including Halifax, but for all the lack of quality you couldn't fault the effort and desire, so the reports of this one come as a bit of a surprise. I'm still convinced we will come out of this bad patch and be good enough to stay up. After all, the same things were being said at a similar stage last season and we fought our way out of it. I'm not saying we're gonna go on and achieve what we did last year but I'm sure we'll miss relegation by a comfortable margin. At the start of the season I predicted 14 th but only 5 points above relegation zone, 14th may be to high but I agree that by Hook or by crook we will stay up, we just need the players to start believing that. If we lose by the odd goal on Friday night I will accept that as a good reaction to Saturdays dire performance,if we do not get a reaction from the players our record 7-1 defeat,I think, will be in serious danger of being erased from the record books.

Have any of the plucky Stones fans who went to Suffolk been offered any money back from the club for their wasted time believing that they were going to watch a Stones team who actually cared about winning that game, as Hak so rightly suggested?
The team being upset at disappointing Hak afterwards in the dressing room is pathetic.
Why didnt they feel that way when we went 0-1 down, and for the rest of the 80 minutes when they should have been attacking everything and running so called inferior players ragged chasing everything and peppering the Needham goal until we scored instead of a handful of a mere pathetic attempts?
Personally I would put every player who disgraced the black and amber on the pitch at Needham - old favourites included - on the transfer list as a wake up call.
Or fine them all a weeks wages.
I doubt if any of that will happen, though, and Stones fans hopes of an FA cup run to offset a dour season of struggle for NL survival are left in tatters.
We can only wait and see if the players feel bad enough about the Needham disgrace to pull their fingers out within the actual 90 minutes they have a chance to do so at Meadow Lane.

Not interested in gimmicks like refunds or extra training. We’re in a slump and far from the only team to have ever been dumped out of the cup by a smaller club.
Hakan hasn’t suddenly become a bad manager and our championship team haven’t suddenly lost their talent. That leaves training and team tactics.
Get back to basics, reevaluate everything we do and every player we have. Lift them off the floor with a social outing, not endless running up and down the pitch.
Onwards and upwards. In Hak we trust.

As for lift them off the floor with a social outing, they dont deserve it for capitulating at Needham. You dont give rewards for such appaling lack of effort or interest. I agree with you though on re-evaluating every player we have, and for now, in Hak we trust. I dont think anyone is suggesting other than trusting in Hak - including me - but if by Christmas he hasnt been able to get our former championship winning team performing then questions will quite rightly have to be asked as to whether they truly want to perform for him or not. They certainly didnt want to at Needham.

You are right other teams were beaten, Notts County for one but i have since found out thru the Non league paper that it was their reserves.

'Someone' said Tom had been transferred listed. No clue about that but he was at training today, and feeling better after his concussion x

Highlights now available on YouTube, though barely worth watching and this is certainly not the fault of Stonestv! Also an interview with Jacob Mensah.

We just can't score - or defend.
I've just had a quick look at goals for and against for our first 14 games, hoping to see some sort of pattern. My gut feel was that the defence was better now, but we are scoring even fewer goals.
And the answer is... my guts are not very reliable. We are scoring fewer - if you divide the season so far into 2, in the first 7 games we scored 10, and in the second 7 games we scored just 7. But, on the same split, the defence hasn't improved at all - we let in 16 in the first 7 games, and 15 in the last seven.
But that is actually quite a rosy view of our 'progress'. Looking at points gained, we've crashed - 10 points from the first 7 games, and only 2 from the second 7. We're not at 21st and bottom of the form table by accident...

Are we seeing the end of the Ash/Casey era? Based on no evidence whatsoever. It’s been an amazing twelve years, but nothing lasts forever. And there must come a point where it’s just not fun anymore. Whatever happens this season, history will judge them well. To use an old phrase “I’m just glad we’re playing in the town” and don’t care much what level. But there is a newer fan base with Premier League attitudes who think football owners should be judged on how much money they throw down the drain. They seem to be finding their voice and gaining in confidence.

Bernie,
I understand your point - There aren't thousands of owners out there waiting to invest so all this talk of needing new owners is just wishful thinking.

'Someone' said Tom had been transferred listed. Someone said they thought the concussion was a cover up and he was actually transfer listed.
