Chickens are coming home to roost. Can hardly blame the demise on 2 player injuries. Poor recruitment over the summer has taken the team backwards. Worse defence in the league, quite a reverse of last season. Wonder how much longer Hak's obsession with Mersin will last ? Retaining 19 players from last seasons squad was a bizarre decision and I'm still not sure why Hak and Terry thought it was a good idea.

HARSH BUT TRUE Hak had recruited a squad large on numbers but short on quality at this level. Bizarre enough to have retained so many but the new recruits have added nothing. Playing like this will see us struggle. September is not looking good. We are only going one way if this effort is anything to go by

The manner of our defending is embarrassing. Hadler has been so lucky to have missed so many matches. Mersin hardly inspires confidence but the play in front of him has been shocking.

Brief summary of the game today 1st half started the better side then Bromley scored against the run of play then we were awful for the rest of the half. 2nd half started well for the 1st 3 minutes then Bromley scored and then we were dog shite.

But we have to defend better.
Lost it again in the 6 yard box where all the goals were scored
We concede too many.
Teams are finding it easy.
The work ethic is shot away, some players are not giving 100% as per last season.
Bromley eased their way to 3 goals. It could have been 6.
Not Mersin's fault but what has Hadler done to deserve his banishment ?

I think folk will need to put up with being outclassed for the next few games, until we get back to playing teams nearer our level. Quite what confidence will be like by then is anyone's guess though. I am also far from confident that the return of JB-W and Luque are going to have the impact that many are hoping. As much as I like them, both remain unproven at this level. Where does that leave us? Well there are probably at least six teams who will do the double over us. There are another six who we will probably do well to get an average of 2-3 points from the two games. The other games we are going to need to average two points a game from: win at home/draw away. Do that and we should survive. Whether we can is another matter. It can't be much fun to going from being dominant like last season, to being outclassed on a regular basis as at the moment. Recruitment doesn't seem to have worked out this far. Am sure Hak would love to bring in new talent, but finding and affording it will not be easy. Meanwhile, fans need to ride out these next few games.

Like it or lump it, you think we should get used to lumping it ?
It didn't have to be like this.
We should have recruited better, but didn't.
But the last thing I expected was to see the team lowering their work rate for the National League.
The defence is vulnerable as opposition sides slice through our midfield like butter.
Then of course the defence itself, where individuals allow themselves to be bettered in and around the 6 yard box.
Teams like Bromley and Gateshead are not mighty teams with free scoring forwards.
Its just that we are so bad we made them look like that.
We need to do a lot more than just 'ride it out', that approach will take us to bottom of the league quickly.
Stones to need to learn and improve pronto.
How we do it ?
Simple enough.
Over to you Hak, "Water into Wine please".

We currently have a squad of 26 players.
Surely we would've been better off going with a smaller squad and spending that budget on actual National League quality players.
People can sugarcoat it all they want but the recruitment this summer was not good enough.

People keep saying we shouldn’t have kept so many of last years squad haven’t realised how hard it is to improve upon them with the budget we have.
The players we have brought in don’t seem to have hit the ground running. Imagine that x 7, 8or 9 other new players.
I imagine Hak was thinking “better the devil I know” and that the players deserved a chance to show him. Well, he has time to change it but wholesale changes would be unsettling.
Let’s just steadily improve. Hak will make changes. He wanted 3 or 4 so I am waiting.
A few more games like this and he will make some moves

We have made our bed and we'll have to live with what we have. I still think we will finish comfortably above the drop zone.

So far we've played 5 teams in the top half of the table and 4 teams in the bottom half.
Top half: W1 D1 L3 Bottom half: W2 D1 L1
Or, to put it another way, of the teams underneath us (who are the ones we need to do well against to stay up), we have won 2, drawn 1 and lost 1. None of us are happy with how we're playing, but that isn't relegation form - especially when FWP are predicting that 43 will be safety.
Our next three games are against top half sides (including 1st and 5th), so probably nothing much from those games. But, after that, we play 3 out of 4 against teams currently underneath us. So, by the end of October, we should know how we are doing against the sides we need to beat.
No need to panic just yet.

Maybe swap teams above or below us for top half or bottom half, as our own league position will shift.
Our owners have said they will not bankrupt the club or go into debt to buy success. I fully support that position.
There might have been a National League oven-ready team waiting to be signed within our budget, but that’s doubtful
Over time I believe Hakan has enough experience and talent at his disposal to avoid the drop. But there will be bad days.
More concerning is the lack of interest from the local business community. Something that has been the case since coming home.

People can sugarcoat it all they want but the recruitment this summer was not good enough. Which is exactly the same situation as when Jay took us into the NL too soon. Hak needed another season in NLS during which he could draft in NL level players in readiness for the promotion push. The close season was too late to recruit the right sort of player.
