Whatever supporters views on the subject, Hak has given Mersin an extended run in the side in preference to Hadler.
20 goals conceded in 9 matches, with none of them apparently down to the keeper, but other assorted defenders being held responsible.
Hadler was by far Hak's preferred choice last season based on appearances, Mersin hardly got a look in.
Some supporters say that Hadler's record counts for nothing as his performances were only at NLS level.
Perhaps Mersin's height advantage is seen as a positive with the bigger stature of many National League attacking players
Whatever, something has changed fundamentally and my money is on Mersin carrying on as 1st choice keeper for a good while yet

I wouldn’t say Mersin has much of a height advantage at all. Hadler stands about 6 foot 5 and is a much bigger physical presence in stature. Mersin is an inch taller at most so that can’t be really be a recognisable advantage in my eyes!

Why should anybody have to convince daveu about anything ? I heard nothing to convince me that Mersin is a better keeper than Hadler Equally I've seen nothing either. I've never claimed Mersin was a better keeper, I just don't think it's very fair to drop a keeper who's done nothing wrong. In the end neither mine nor your opinion counts for anything anyway. Hak will pick what he thinks is his best team regardless of what either of us think.

Imo your opinion does count for something along with those of other supporters who post on this forum
You may not respect or value others opinions, but for better or for worse everybody has a right to have an opinion, which is worth as much as the next man.

As he certainly did nothing wrong in the title run in last season. In his final game, he conceded 1 goal which was a lovely finish, or "a thinderous finish" as Sean said in commentary.

'unfairly dropped' is a bit loaded, I would rather go for 'inexplicably dropped' !

Of course I respect other people's opinions. I don't necessarily agree with them but that doesn't mean I don't respect their right to hold them. I think other people posting things like "daveu has spoken..." are the ones who don't respect others opinions.

Well he spent pretty much the whole season as No.1 keeper, then starts the next season as No.2 to the guy who was No.2 last season. If Mersin had just joined I could see maybe it not being called 'dropped' but to be switched around like it has been , is 100% dropped.

It is unusual for something that the players must know about, nothing has leaked out of the Gallagher.
Speculation of an 'incident', perhaps Hadler delayed signing a new deal, turned up unfit at the start of the season, tried to get a gig elsewhere, etc.
Even that Mersin has excelled in training sessions whereas Hadler has looked disinterested.
From being our number 1 keeper and becoming number 2 to Mersin. who was number 2 throughout last season.
Without a ball in competition being kicked.
This in a season when we look to be breaking records for goals against.
Stranger than fiction, you couldn't make it up.

In all fairness, Tom Hadler couldn't have picked a better time to be 'rested'.
