Decent interview with Hak on KoL. Players were all brought in on Monday to rake through the ashes of Wrexham. Says he wants workrate, but also four new players, though no sign of anyone for Torquay. JB-W out for two months following a knee operation, Brown's ankle being reassessed, though Sol WS could be back soon, albeit not for Saturday. Am currently confused as to who plays where, but if Vincent is a left back, he needs to play there, as Deacon is very good at tracking back to support. Indeed, we see defenders doubling up on the likes of Luque and Barham, so we need to do the same. Wonder if he will keep Odusanya and Pattisson back as impact subs, as per v York?

Earlier Posts suggesting Pattisson in midfield? You're kidding.
Given the players available I would go 3-5-2...
Hadler
Fowler Ellul Cawley
Hoyte Booty Odusanya Gurung(or Iandolo) Deacon
Barham Ghandour

I expect Hak has said to the players.. this is the weekend to prove yourselves. I wouldn't expect much movement player-wise until after the next two or three games. Most managers wait until 10 games before pressing the panic button. They leave that to the fans....

With no new players, this is essentially a case of play everyone in the best positions possible and go out there and win at all costs. Attitude and desire will win this game.
It would have been bread and butter to last season's side. But can this depleted and shaken team pull themselves together and show the 21-22 spirit? Can Hak rejuvenate them?
My money's on Hak to work his magic and the players to do or die. They know how important this is as well as we do. If I were Torquay, I wouldn't be looking forward to Saturday's game.
But, if that doesn't happen, we are in deep poo and Hak has a emergency rebuild on his hands only 5 games into the season.
Fingers crossed this is still the team we saw last season.

Well, either Hak's interview was a complete load of bollocks or he has decided to press the 'panic button'. 4 new players now ? Maybe writing off most of the new signings ? Current squad not meeting his minimum expectations ? Not working hard enough ? Not playing like his team ? Letting the supporters down ? For some supporters conceding shedloads of goals is par for the course and was to be expected. But not according to Hak I'm pleased to hear.

To paraphrase Einstein, "Doing the same thing over again and expecting a different result is the definition of stupidity". On that basis and with no new faces why not start with Vincent, Gurung, Iandolo and Alabi with Odusanya, Pattisson and Ghandour as potential impact subs? IMHO Pattisson is best as an impact sub when opposition legs are tiring.

Hadler Hoyte Fowler Ellul Vincent Gurung Booty Pattisson Barham Alabi Deacon This would be my line up. Back four and keeper as close as it can be from last season, Vincent not ideal, but playing in his natural position. Believe we used 4-3-3 last year with two either side of the main striker dropping back to bolster the midfield. Would drop Woods and Cawley. Think Gurung would put the miles in to prove himself. Stick to the high pressure game Hak promotes. Just my opinion which mean FA.. Looks interesting, I wouldn't play Pattisson in midfield though, more chance of Deacon there for me. Pattisson goes in the front 3 where he causes most problems . Don’t judge me, but I’ve confused Pattison and Odusanya 🫣

Both are good footballers but neither were regular starters for us last season. National League is probably a step too high for them, sadly.

We've played four games. Hak is saying what some supporters want to hear. It was his decision to give most of last year's squad a chance. Personally, i think writing them off as some fans are after four games is unfair. Some people on here are saying we must 'win at all costs' Saturday.. blimey, a must win game in August :-)

For the record, I was very happy that Hak offered contracts to our 10 first choice team players (Phillips being the 11). Just a bit surprised that so many bit part players also got contracts. Whatever, the new signings were there to strengthen the squad and that hasn't happened yet. Hak demands certain characteristics from his team and some of that has gone walkabouts. Injuries havn't helped but is Stones position any worse than other clubs ? Saturday will need to see 100% effort from all of the players for the full 90 minutes.

We are only 3 pts off the playoffs ,we got stuffed by runaway champions,in their eyes,Wrexham . We will get stuffed again, I predicted we will finish around 14th,I have not changed my mind. We will get enough points against lesser teams to be OK. A host of new players does not necessarily mean we become unbeatable all of a sudden. Let's persevere with what we have for the next two months then reassess the situation no point panicking and signing four money grabbing journeymen because that is the only players left to chose from.
