Hak says there in nothing to choose between the 2 of them. Whatever happens in training Tom has proven himself in competition, time and time again. Hak certainly has said that, but on match days there is plenty between them. Hadler needs to play, Mersin will cost us points.

Tom Hadler will make a handful of mistakes over a season but at this level he is our stand-out keeper. Mersin is a nice guy and an excellent bak-up to the main man. Just hoping it doesnt cost us too many points before we see Tom back between the sticks. I know people well say "Hak knows best", but for me this keeper selection is a mystery.

Tbh we were lucky not to concede another today when Mersin 'distributed' directly to York attacker near the end. Shame to go on about it after such as great result. But it needs to be said.

Hak sees them in training. I see them in matches. I don’t think there’s much between them at all. Both are in the “good” category.

Hakan clearly wants to have two quality keepers at his disposal all season. To do that they both need game time. I have complete faith in the choices of the manager who won us promotion as champions.

Fan-bloody-tastic!! I thought York were the better team for two-thirds of the game, and when we missed the pen, we might be lucky to get away with only losing 1-0.
Then a miracle happened! I don't know if it was Christie coming on or if that was just coincidence, but we were a different team from then on. How we managed to find that second burst of energy in that heat is a mystery, but we did. It was our game from then on, and a very deserved win.
I went to the game hoping for a draw and expecting to lose. But now I'm sitting in the pub looking at us SIXTH in the table.
If you can win this league on sheer determination and never say die attitude, it's ours for the taking!

A couple of York supporters on NL Facebook site said they were disappointed with Yorks performance but on the upside enjoyed their visit to the Gallagher.

Get Hadler back in goal, Mersin is crap. His distribution is poor and he always looks shakey when under any pressure. If he looks like Shakey, we've had it🤣🤣🤣

I disagree with some of the comments saying York were better for long periods. I thought we deserved to be level before we actually scored and whereas last time we were in the National league there was a clear gulf in physicality and skill that was not the case today even when we were losing. Admittedly this was against another promoted team so we will see but the good times from last season are still going. I did think we suffered from having two full backs out of position and so there were less overlaps and crosses and they were able to put crosses into our box with relative ease. This is my biggest concern with JBW and Raphe Browne seemingly nowhere near fitness. I also thought the crowd got going just before we equalised and think it lifted the team so we have.a part to play when the team is behind. COYS lets stick together win, lose or draw.

I think we were the better tean for long periods and had many many chances to score..ultimately only one stat matters.. who got the three points. Massive credit to Hak for timing the substitutions perfectly. Wait until York are knackered then unleash the pace.

It’s what we do best, and the reason so many underestimate us. Our best performances last season were where we needed something from the game in the final minutes. Something special is happening down here. And some want to waste their breath on goalkeeper choices.

I agree about the balance of play, but for me it was Odusanya who made the difference, he ripped into the York defence. Surprising, bearing in mind he was almost always a sub last season. But Deacon MoM.

But Deacon MoM. Odusanya has always looked good quality to me. The first time I saw him he stroked a goal in with effortless ease from 20 yards. Maybe this will be the season he delivers on his promise

I'm with you, I thought we were the better side (just). I saw a York fan saying our win was a 'snatch and run' but couldn't disagree more. We played very well, bossed the 2nd half and came from a goal behind after missing a penalty. Only one team looked like winning it 2nd half. Substitutes and the fans waking up around 60 minutes lifted the team. Very impressive - I'm more than happy with 4 points from our first 2!
