Difficult to call, as we know almost nothing about York, and we have our injury problems, etc. But it being at home and our first home NL game has got to give us an advantage. Hopefully, the choir will be on song and the team will be wanting to impress the home fans.
My head says a close game, probably a draw, but my black and amber heart says a 3-1 win in front of 2,000 delerious home fans (and a few pissed off Yorkies).
To be honest, I'm more worried about Tuesday. You can never trust Dorking to lose properly.

They’ve just come up like us, but finished 5th. No idea if they’ve been spending for life in the new stadium, or are the same set up who were relegated. They will score, but so will we, so I’m going 2-1 win for Maidstone. Let’s grind this league out one game at a time.

Think this will be a close one, hopefully we can get at them early, got to try and make home advantage count, I'm going for a 2-1 win. By reading reports they put Woking to the sword sat, so going to be interesting how we fair against them.

Few working fans on Facebook saying they were really poor so can't read too much into the result. Can't really see us keeping a clean sheet at the moment so going for a 2-1 win and 3089 in attendance.

On the Bt Highlights show they said York have brought in 16 new players!! Looking at the names and clubs they bought from, many are league clubs and a few Recognisable Names. Not saying much but they have rolled the side for sure. None of the same loyalty to the squad that got them up but I suppose they weren’t even one of the top 4 teams in that league so needed to improve more than we did.

York City received a £2m sell-on fee for Ben Godfrey from Norwich to Everton. They didn’t spend it last year but looks like they have this summer.

Enjoyed that 1-1 game yesterday, shame about the sending off though that must be frustrating for any player being sent off first game into a season.
I am slightly baffled by one team selection and I see Hak say it’s such a close call regards to the keepers and yeah Mersin had a decent game yesterday, but I have some stats here regards to Mersin and I don’t understand the close call- Played 7 for Stones, never kept a clean sheet, a howler at Home to Hungerford, 3 poor goals away to Welling, all in 7 matches last season!
Let in 4 times as many goals during pre season with equal minutes played but our number 2 in Mersin starts the season in goal, wonder what made Hak justify that selection pre match when the stats don’t lie.
Hadler and all the defence played a massive part in our success last season and can’t be good for our number 1 keepers confidence when he had a good season last season and a better pre season than his competitor but still doesn’t start the season in goal
Bad enough having Ellul and JBW injured then having your number 2 in goal aswell, odd

York have new owners as well and they are seriously minted but money cannot change the weather, with temperatures around 33°c its gonna be a stop/start game for drink breaks and may never truly settle down to a proper game. Assuming we still have half a team missing I think it will be tough,if we score first we could get a result if they score first I think the best we could hope for is another 1-1 and that is what I'm going for. With this being major holiday times the attendance may be a lot lower than anticipated its a hard call but I'll say around 2400.

The sending off was for two yellows, so that's only one game - presumably Saturday? So he'll be available for Tuesday. (Or are the rules different in the NL?!)
I'm with Sword on the possible effect of the weather on the game - Saturday could just be a 0-0 slog. So it might be better going into Tuesday's game with an extra (fresh) striker available.

I was shocked Hadler wasn’t selected.

Whatever the reasons for Hadler's omission, Mersin did nothing wrong on Saturday. Based on last season, would prefer to see Tom, but Hak knows his job, so in him we trust. Two challenging games in four days and no doubt Dorking will be well up for Tuesday. Four points would be a very decent return methinks, how ever we get them. As for Saturday, the Town End may be the best option in terms of a bit of shade.
