Hak looks absolutely gutted. Some of the players let him down big time again.. they did it against Braintree. I hope the club make the right decision about the squad as now is the time to save money and build for next season.

Well, Tuesday night will be interesting...
Assuming it happens, that is!
Either, we'll do a typical football thing and play our hearts out against a much superior side, or we'll just crumble and get slaughtered.
Despite my prediction being 50% right today (we did score 4 goals!), I'm definitely not going for 4-0 for this one!

And, talking of Tuesday night - just how much of a total f**k-up is this season?!
Covid and the NL board between them have totaly screwed the season, but, just as we bow out on a horrific FAT performance (even by our FAT standards!), and wait for the season to crumble arounds us, we wake up to find ourselves playing the best team in the league in just three days time!
Can this get any more absurd?

Yes Hak looks absolutely gutted but he is the moron who picks the side and sets them up like a pub outfit going by the last few games. What happened to the likes of Chesmain and Kahn? Seaman such a prospect was absolutely lost against a Ryman side. Amaluzor could destroy a defence on his day but he’s been useless for months. Can’t use Covid or the government grant fiasco as an excuse and the club wanted to continue the season on so can’t be that bad behind the scenes. It’s mind boggling we’re full time elite setup. Is it any wonder 80% of fans on social media want Hak to walk? What do they get up to in training? There are some good players that we have that would walk into any team in this division but don’t seem to look interested in the slightest under Hak. Concerned.

Can our defence get any worse? I assume Ellul will be suspended and if George is still injured ......?Tuesday could see a cricket score against us.
Yesterday showed that without George there was no leader on the pitch. We need a midfield general. The midfield looked poor but in fairness for most of the match the ball was sailing over their heads as both keepers lumped the ball in the air to each other.

Highlights now available, though they really ought to come with a health warning. Condensing the game into ten minutes just makes a bad thing worse. Should only be viewed alongside the report by Plastic Passion as it is the only way to ease the pain. If you didn't watch the match live, beware!

Having just watched that, the defending is worse than I thought. I remember some poor defending in the Kent County League but nothing as bad as that! :-)

Given Hornchurch are facing a long away trip to Darlington now, the club must almost be glad to have lost to Hornchurch.

I'd like to thank Stones TV for the excellent highlights, with some great camera views that give a different perspective on the debacle.
Clearly Porter and Rendell had decent games but nobody else comes out of this with a lot of credit. Initially on Saturday I didn't think Raven was responsible for the goals but for one, he came out for a cross and if you do that as a keeper you have to get it. The first goal looked bad on the Hornchurch feed but it was a clever flick and the behind-the-goal camera shows Raven saw it very late as it came past Porter. I think it was Dave U who pointed out that his goal kicks are just too long and I agree, he needs to reign the distance back a bit to give our forwards a chance to get on the end of them.
Sam Higgins might be their version of Danny Kedwell but he has a lot of experience - over 300 career goals, including 275 in ten seasons for East Thurrock. He knows where the goal is and we should have given him more respect. I suspect our defenders took one look at his girth and decided he wouldn't be a threat.

Agreed re Higgins, but surely it was obvious that, despite his girth, there was a burst of speed and an eye for goal. Once he'd shown that, we should have been more alert - both on the pitch and from the touchline, but we did neither. Reminds of one of the Tonbridge games when Ben Greenhalgh strolled around midfield, controlling the game without ever being challenged. Had big George been playing, suspect Higgins would have disappeared into the long grass early on. Whatever - who wants to go to Darlington at this time of year anyway...

Essentially, what we're saying here is that we were beaten by a team using the old 'kick it long to your past-it, but still talented, fat forward' technique.
And, for all our superiority, money, large squad of talented players, sophisticated management team, etc, we had no way of defending against that, because we had one player missing.
Pretty bloody damning.
