Two questions:
1) Is there anyone on here who thinks that Johnson is fit for purpose?
2) Has anyone replied to Jacob's request to name EU laws they would like to get rid of?

Wonder what Putin thinks of him? Not much, I guess, but then he doesn't think much of anyone it seems. We'd best hope Bojo isn't going along the Thatcher route by getting us involved in foreign conflicts. She was very unpopular, pre Falklands, then weak diplomacy resulted in a war that didn't have to happen and she then won a landslide victory, in a wave of patriotism in the following election. Best not to piss with Putin though, or we may have just two minutes to bend over and kiss our arses goodbye. Boris (good Russian name there), may well have been studying their approach of 'deny everything' even when it is patently obvious that is exactly what you are planning to do. Ben Wallace's remarks about Chamberlain, Hitler and Munich certainly perceptive though. The parallels are getting too close for comfort.

Johnson is fit for f**k all and I like bent bananas. It is true that Boris declared that the EU would ban bent bananas. All nonsense of course but plenty believed the lie. The same Boris promised that leaving the EU would drastically reduce food prices and energy prices. And the lies go on and on without end seemingly.

That piece of "fake news" was circulating 40+ years ago which is well before Boris made himself known to us.

Try the date of May 11th 2016 when Boris launched the Brexit battle-bus. He repeated the nonsense about the EU banning bendy bananas, along with another load of codswallop he believed the public were thick enough to believe.

Try the vacuam cleaner fiasco. Again Boris cited the EU regulation limiting power output (to increase efficiency and reduce energy) as a contravention of our sovereignty. The fact is any member state could have voted down the regulation including the UK of course. The fact is the UK government supported the regulation then as now. Just another example of Boris and his bluster, publicised by his fleet street acolytes. You couldn't make it up.

I well recall just a month before the referendum, Michael Gove promoting the scrapping of VAT if we left the EU. That would come in handy now. How about it Michael, or is it another broken promise ?

The thing I remember most was the £350million a week our NHS was meant to be getting as a Brexit dividend. Sweet F*** A**.

So in other words it's all turned out to be a mix of lies, half truths, u-turns, distortions and dodgy predictions.
Well that's a surprise !

But gullibility is a basic human failing. There will always be charlatans and chancers like Boris who are able, eager and willing to take advantage. Love it or loath it we are in a democracy. Being shafted comes with the territory.
