This group is slacking. I'd've thought that between sword, sennockian, hkstone and JDL, ONE of you would have come up with a conspiracy theory about the Evergiven deliberately being run aground in the Suez Canal to drive up oil prices. Or at the very least blame it on Boris Johnson and Boreham Wood. Not heard from hkstone much recently - I think he's looking for his escaped pet pangolin... I'm bored with all politics, there are more important things in life and life too short to worry about things that I can do nothing about, I'll leave all the boring stuff to nws he thrives on it. You keep chatting to Ken Mcmullan about his fictitious appearance for Maidstone. I'm off to log on to a thread about golf to complain about how tedious it is and how I'm going to avoid it.

I have come to the conclusion that Mr McMullan is having a laugh with me. I dont like golf but I know a man who went to A&E to have a ball removed from his anus. The doctor said it could take some time as it had gone up a fair way😁

I've made my thoughts clear on the indignant posting of Guardian articles. More convinced than ever that you are JDL's lovechild, conceived in a bus shelter in Snodland.

Our carbon footprint per head has halved since the 90s and we're leaders on wind energy. Otherwise, rubbish. That Cumbria coal mine thing is a bit worrying though.

If you sit on the laurels they won't be able to absorb CO2. Terrible

That Cumbria coal mine thing is a bit worrying though. You are right. If the mine goes ahead, all the many heritage steam railways in this country will be able to secure the high quality coal they need to fire their locomotives relatively easily. If not, they'll have to import coal from, inter alia, Russia. How would that get to our shores? Oh yes, by huge transport ships. But don't those ships use fossil fuels for power? Indeed. So the big question is, whose carbon footprint will be enormously inflated, ours or Russia's? Thinking globally (a la Greta), it wouldn't matter, so surely the Cumbria mine then makes more sense, as its existence would be limited in time anyway. Not to mention the jobs it would create.

That's the dilemma, agreed. Not just for the sake of a few heritage railways, don't they need the coal for steel making too?
