And another thing... In yesterday's programme, Bill goes on about playing two games a week for most of the season, but between now and Xmas, I've only got two mid-week games listed - 12 games in 10 weeks. Are there fixtures I don't know about?? FA Trophy and rearrangements for clubs still in the cup and Trophy . Dont think the KSC cup is being played this year. Then you will have weather postponement and possible Covid affected games.

Swordy, you truly are the forum's 'Voice of Reason'
But I think JDL has a point, Bill probably did exaggerate a shade.

Bill's actual words:
"Simple maths shows that we are playing a competitive match every three days, which begs the question: is this enough recovery time for players who only train two or three times a week?"
I rest my case.

I rest my case. That doesnt say playing 2 games a week for most of the season, that says we are playing 2 games a week at the minute which is true. We now are down to one game per week for the next couple of weeks. As for the recovery time it's not ideal but we are supposed to be a professional squad and should be able to deal with it without trotting out Premier league managers excuses after only 3 league games.

From that press release:
Oliver Dowden, Culture Secretary, said:
"I know from a brilliant club in my area that National League football clubs are the beating heart of their communities and too precious to lose."
Does he mean Boreham Wood (who are in his constituency) or St Albans, just outside? Or - as he is an evil Tory MP, as the Pravda readers on here will remind you, is that just an empty soundbite and he hasn't a clue about any teams lower than Watford?

Tony G said " I have written to the tax payers alliance, Helen grant and Tracey crouch about the ludicrousness of all of this where smaller and hence possibly less safer grounds allow 600 and we can’t allow the same 600. I now know that the lotteries commission are helping with the 10 £million but at the end of the day the government had missed the opportunity of a lot a VAT revenue that would normally be taken from increased gate receipts/executive boxes and general expenditure within the ground (food/drink etc). At the end of the day it will be the tax payer who has to pay for Covid (and Brexit, but that is for another thread!)."
I agree it is ludicrous that we are not permitted 600 spectators in our ground but I do not think it would have much effect on finances and even less on tax revenue. I assume most clubs will break even or make a loss so no tax there. I think we have about 600 season ticket holders. They would get first crack at attending games and as the club already have their money it would not increase revenue. We could safely accommodate 600 fans and the plus is that it would generate the atmosphere currently absent from the excellent broadcast.
On a different note I hope the lottery money will be enough for us to retain the services of Joan Luque

Slightly off topic but still money related ,wor Danny from Gateshead tells me that Newcastle Utd fans refused to pay £15 to sky for their Box Office match and instead donated money to the Newcastle food bank raising around £16,000.

He doesn't state any end point, so it is reasonable to assume he means this is going on indefinitely, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt and assumed he only meant this season. And, true, he did say "every three days", but again I gave him the benefit of the doubt and assumed he meant twice a week. We are also playing no more midweek games than we normally do at the start of the season, possibly fewer. But, hey ho...

This has not been worked out on attendances, this has been worked out on the ridiculous wages the National league are paying and they have fucked us right up the proverbial arseole. Let the court cases begin.
