We are 8th, with games in hand, and, yes, we had a decent cup run (although the usual Trophy 'run'). But ask anyone who has seen the last few games if they feel confident about actually being in the playoffs at the end of the season, or, if we are, doing well in them. Or even if they feel confident about Oxford - or Billericay... We were confident about Hampton and Richmond, about Tonbridge, about HHT, about St Albans, about Dartford, but we didn't win any of them. True, we hung on for a fairly desperate win at H&W but that's pretty much the only bright spot recently. Then there's our joint top scorer opting to move to a lower league side, rumours that HH has lost the changing room, three players possibly being kicked out... There's a lot more to accessing progress than just glancing at the table. Gloucester are at the same level as us, they are not a lower league side. Plus didn't we have the Gloucester is closer to his home he's mates with the manager on another thread a few days ago.

You are beginning to confuse a good storyline with some relevant facts. Not really suited to this forum.

I don't recall any promises of promotion or glory this season. We've had a good cup run, are in the top half of the league, with all to play for. This season is exactly what I was expecting. If we're still in this position next season, then grumble away to your heart's content. Expectations were definitely set for the new managers to get us to play offs and give us a team to be proud of that gelled together well and gave 100%, unlike last years team. So no, unfortunately that hasn’t happened and so not much has changed.

Some fans have patience and can see the long term and bigger picture. Some can't.

Looks like someone accidentally re-emailed all of Oliver's blogs. Only realised after opening the first one thinking it was something new and then noticed there were a whole load more.

Why are there two threads on the same subject?
The answer is yes everything has changed - the squad the league the performances the attendances and the mood.
Is it better? Of course it is!
Is it where we wanted to be and where the experience of JS2 and continued full time football should have put us - debatable.
We are doing better and are sort of on course but not setting the world on fire and arguably should be doing better.

Although I do support our management duo, the question is rightly asked could we or should we doing better. In truth I expected or at least hoped we would be featuring in the play-offs and so we are only a little short of expectations. Nobody seriously argued that promotion was a necessity or even desirable so we are there or thereabouts where most of us expected to be at this stage of the season. A finish of 6th or 7th in the league will be just good enough as long as we don't do anything silly like winning the play-offs.
