Say what you will about Tamplin, he left Billericay in a better state than he found them. Romford are currently bottom of the Isthmian North, with no ground, playing in front of 100 fans. They've not got much to lose.

Anybody remember when Folb was thinking of buying the club in the County league days? There was a friendly against Lashings, and the only thing I recall from it (no idea what the score was) was the number of shell suits and white Golf GTI convertibles that were on display (you have to bear in mind the fashions at the time). It was like an audition for Hollyoaks extras. Put me off the idea for life. It was a budget preview for footballers' Wives. I hated all of it.
I can't imagine that the Tamplin circus is much different...
If the rumours are true, I feel sorry for Romford.

But we were in their position after 1992. Were we not delighted when we got our own sugar daddy to bring us onwards and upwards? Admittedly PBB was more saccharine than sugar....

His Twitter is back on and on his bio... “owner of Romford FC” Now confirmed by Romford that he is investing in them. Not clear whether he is actually the owner or not. You can't help thinking if he couldn't get Billericay into the EFL then either his ambitions are lower or he's even more deluded than ever seemed possible.

Can’t imagine what clown will be managing the big top in a few days time?? Oh hang on!!!!!!

My old home team - or it would have been, had the ground not been sold.
Romford was once the biggest non-league club, with a huge ground, the biggest main stand outside the League and large crowds. But they failed to get into the League and eventually the cost of maintaining the ground became too much. A local estate agent bought the club, promising great things, but sold the land for housing instead. Brooklands stadium became the Brooklands estate in north Romford.
They were resurrected many years later, but have never managed to get back to anything like the old days. Last I heard they were ground sharing with Collier Row.
Maybe this is good news for them - after all, can it get any worse? If, when the circus is over, they've got their own ground, some decent stands/covered terracing, and are getting OK gates, they might be able to work their way up the leagues. In the meantime, at least they won't be short of publicity!

According to a post on the Tony Kempster forum the manager needed one more game to complete 500 in charge of them. Stunning lack of loyalty shown by the club.

All sounds horribly familiar. Let's hope that Romford at least get a ground of their own out if this before Tamplin moves on.
