Thanks for posting this, Steve, I'd probably have missed it otherwise. Very interesting (if rather depressing) interview. I was going to say that now perhaps the anti-Jay brigade will realise how little they knew of what was really going on, but, having just read three pages of comments, I can see that's a forlorn hope. I'm still trying to digest some of that - it never occurred to me that Jay wasn't on contract, for instance. And the fact that Jay was actually on a minibus driving course when they sacked him, because he was expected to look after the youngsters as well as manage a 'full-time' NL side speaks volumes for the way the club was being run. I've never understood how Bromley do better than us, with their crap ground and smaller crowds, but now I do. They took the NL seriously, we didn't.

PS - anyone know if this podcast can be downloaded. I can't see any obvious option, We've got such crap wi-fi here that I've had to listen to this in 5 minute chunks, over two days! It would be lovely to be able to hear the whole thing in one go...

Gives him the entire summer to find another job, I,m sure he will find something, yet on the down side there,s lots of managers with better track records than his looking for work. It,s a tough job to take on.

In a way, I hope not. Dowswell such an iconic figure there, providing money and expertise. Depends how much cash they have left over from their cup runs. If they haven't spent it all, then whoever follows Dowswell will have a bit of a campaign chest to work with. If not, they might struggle next season and for Jay it could be a case of deja vu and I for one wouldn't wish that on him.

You never know, after his experience here, he might be just the right person.

Just wondering what the point of the interview is. To drive a wedge between the supporters and owners of MUFC. Or financial gain?. If the later then KOL is hardly going to make him a fortune. KOL states that he says that its good to be back in the dugout after 5-6 months, do Bromley not have dugouts?. We were losing supporters because of his style of play route one hoofball. Its water under the bridge, get over it.. For some reason this interview had past me by until this thread being reignited. It's a really interesting insight imho.
But I am frankly puzzled by the quote above and think that overthehillstone is trying to create discord where there is none. That's a bizarre 'question' - It was a ramble through Jay's managerial career, which yes included some observations that should be uncomfortable for the club, but to infer that it is some kind of hatchet job on the club takes being 'one eyed' to a whole new level.
I assume from this then that you ddin't even bother to listen to the interview as I don't think (could be wrong) Jay mentions missing being 'in the dugout', what he does say is that experiencing the manager doing management things made him realise what he was missing.
The invented 'Jay vs MUFC' argument aside, what does come across to me loud and clear is some insight to the puzzle : given our budget in what way were not setup for the NL? And more importantly what can we do differently if and when we go back up - assuming we don't have a new sugar daddy which I hope we don't.
Some very useful insights from Jay there imho.
For sure Jay feels mistreated by the club (with or without cause) but he obviously was not driving that as an agenda.

Strange Jay lasting such a short time at Margate. Mutual consent...? In modern day footballspeak does that translates as he has a better offer that the Gate cant match to keep him next year?
Surely that offer must be Sutton, but for some reason they are holding back on going public just yet - maybe until season actually ends?

Strange Jay lasting such a short time at Margate. Mutual consent...? Jay admitted in interview he wanted to manage at higher level so was never going to stay at Margate in reality. Definitely his choice to move on.

If for financial reasons Sutton fancy a rest from NL back down in the NLS, I know a Head Coach who has taken two teams down this year from NL they can have
Sorry, couldn't resist it. I know, I know, In JS2 and HH we trust.
And Anwar.
And Chris.
And Simon???
