Jim Ward was crap without his brother. We were beyond woeful. Not only were we not winning games we were not showing any postive signs either. Plus we have more stable minded owners these days

Jay does have backing on the terraces but he also has others on the terraces who think he should go. Bit of a sweeping statement as the numbers of people supporting him will drop not vice versa if results don’t go his way . The way we played Tuesday gives me hope this is a mega blip on our way to Kent domination and the Champions league...

Well I hope this thread doesn't go on any longer. It is really not necessary but ppl could go on and on about why they think, (or don't think) Jay should be sacked. Let's just stick behind the team and most importantly Jay - I believe that is the least he deserves for what's happened over the last 6 years, he's not stupid he knows things aren't right and he will sort it, the way some of you are going its as he's doing it on purpose. Give the man a break! Keep the faith I do !! This thread is a joke !! Saunders Out is just a reminder that there are some very mindless " supporters " that frequent this Forum Jay will not be moving on anywhere soon he's too good a Manager of Maidstone United for that - no wins in 14 is just a blip. This is a very tough league and we are still minnows - I know because my mate from Barrow keeps telling me so and he should know ! Hopefully we can just stay in this league for a few seasons and then move on up to where we belong. COYS

The thread is valid but maybe should be renamed ‘Jay discussion’.
I’ll accept that some fans want a quick fix and expect us to be top half and chasing the playoffs already. That’s their own idea of where we are.
I think most fans are behind the manager. It’s usually the vocal keyboard warriors who voice negative opinions on Social Media and forums.
Either way, it’s a valid discussion to have after 16 or whatever league games without a win.

Jay is becoming the nonleague Arsne Wenger..He has full support of long-term fans who remember and appreciate his work and success since he took over during the dark days at Ashford, while those with a more short-term view see the current 16 game winless run as a reason to change. Like Wenger, Jay is going nowhere unless he decides he's had enough.

Wenger's Arsenal have had the same problems for 10 years (which still don't look like being fixed any time soon), while Maidstone have been underperforming for what, three months?

Have we been underperforming, or have we been punching above our weight for a couple of seasons? Pretty sure the only people who think we should be higher than we are, are the same people who think Terry and Oliver should be chucking loadsamoney at the team.

Remember what happened when some Charlton fans wanted Alan Curbishley out when they were in the PL...now look at them. Be careful what you wish for. I for one would be gutted if Jay left.

I just looked back at the first post, to find out whether this thread started as a whoosh. It could have done, until Stones70 posted again and made his position clear. I preferred it as a whoosh....

Pretty sure the only people who think we should be higher than we are, are the same people who think Terry and Oliver should be chucking loadsamoney at the team. It's a bit of both. Up to NS, we were too good for the lower leagues, in the NS, we were play-off contenders, but couldn't sustain our early season challenge for the championship. I'm sure I wasn't the only one rather surprised to find us in the National the next season! But is it just because we were promoted before we were ready? With the first season problems, probably, but this season is a different situation. We had time to build a decent NL side, we went 'full-time', we learnt our lessons from the first season - and, for almost half the season, it all seemed to be working. Then the wheels came off. My theory (based on the feeling that in many of the early season games we were riding our luck) is that the squad wasn't really up to the NL, and we got found out or ran out of luck (compounded by the inevitability of losing both our temporary strikers half-way through). As I've said (many) times, I simply don't think we have the budget to do well at this level. As things stand, we will struggle every season, and probably end up going down, if not this season, then soon. I'm not advocating chucking silly money at the squad, of course (and O&T wouldn't do that anyway), the surplus DOES give us the freedom to increase the playing budget a bit. Whether that would be enough is anyone's guess - I fear probably not. But, without that, I think we can kiss goodbye to any thoughts of a stable mid-table squad, or the famed 'consolidation season'. We will be forever scrapping it out down the bottom, and hoping there's always a good supply of NFUs, Guiseleys and Torquays around.

Same at West Ham with Redknapp. He gave us (possibly accidentally!) some of our best seasons, but then couldn't take us any further, so we chucked him out. And look how well that turned out.. Guilty of thinking we were better than we were, just because we'd had a few good years. Is there a lesson there somewhere...
