Easter weekend there is a beer festival in the 'Beerseller' ' in Tonbridge. I know it's a little off the beaten track for most of you but I cannot recommend the place high enough and all beers priced Β£3.60 . It would be nice to see a few of you there. Looks Great ! ( per the web site ) : www.thebeerseller.co.uk/If you go onto the Facebook pages and scroll down to the 11th March you will see Malcolm chatting up the ladies . I would download it for you but I don't know how π¨βππ¨βππ¨βππ¨βπis me in all my gloryπ΅οΈββοΈπ¨βππ¨βππ¨βπ

We appear to have ' lost ' the Queen Anne, in that it has been rebranded & relaunched as ' The Coach House '. Good luck with that - still a great location for a boozer.

Indeed. A guide price of Β£ 200 - 220 K isn't much to pay, the chilling phrase from the auctioneer ' could be run as a pub or a new owner might have other plans ' is a bit of a give away !

Indeed. A guide price of Β£ 200 - 220 K isn't much to pay, the chilling phrase from the auctioneer ' could be run as a pub or a new owner might have other plans ' is a bit of a give away ! One of my (few) locals - and a decent pub. Very sad. If you live in that area (Boxley Road/John St/Hardy St), there aren't many other local pubs now, in fact I can only think of one that's a shortish walk away. But the price is less than our house cost - I wonder if Mrs LLCoolJ would be interested in moving round the corner... As for the Queen Anne (another of my locals!), I noticed that a few days ago. Weird when you think of the money they spent on doing it up a little while back. Perhaps the name was too associated with it's old life? I fear we're seeing the final death throes of the local. It's no longer enough for a pub just to be there, it has to have a reason for people to visit it now. If you're out of the town centre and haven't got that somethig special that gets the drinkers in, you've pretty much had it. But then, I suppose it's inevitable. I love pubs and proper beer, but I've only been to half a dozen pubs in the last year (all football related!), and only one of those twice. And I suspect I am more representative of the average 'drinker' than most of the posters on here.

Visited the Beer Seller in Tonbridge the other day. Not really a micropub, based on size of premises. On a Monday they had a decent trade, plus wine and cheese tasting upstairs at Β£35 a head. Nice range of snacks from the local butcher. I like the beer wall idea, although the bar area looks like some kind of wild west pastiche. Why would anyone pay a pubco tens of thousands to be tied to their high prices and take over a failing business, when you can create your own vision?

Glad you like it Barney as it is now my pub of choice when in the town centre which is usually around 4 times a week plus you get a free beer every 10 pints which effectively takes the price down to Β£3.24 a pint . Though this cannot compete wit Wetherspoons prices the beer in the Beerseller is of a different quality as they know how to look after it. One final point I would just like to mention the Station House by Tonbridge railway station which is trying to compete with Wetherspoons on the prices with some beers an ciders at Β£2.00 a pint and is not a bad pub now it has been closed ,redecorated and reopened.

Just what the town needs - another place to eat... Slightly OT - I noticed today that the massive scaffolding and plastic sheeting around the Vic has come down, but the Vic is stll there! What the hell was all that time and money spent on then? The big chimney's gone and the roof looks like something's been done to it, but otherwase the pub is more or less as it was before the scaffolding went up. I read in the KM that they'd found some asbestos (just for a change), which will obviously cause some delays, but surely, if you're dealing with that sort of problem, it's best to keep the scaffolding and plastic sheeting in place?

Can't see anyone spending that sort of money and then trying to reopen it as a pub. So, flats it probably is then. Very sad - a really nice old pub.

More rumours that the STAG needs a really good few summer months or it will be closed by Xmas.

Chatting to the landlady of the white horse the other day, sounds like they're worried about renewing their licence after an objection from a local.
