I think the biggest problem you have is that 3G is awful. Just awful. Like watching football on a trampoline. Also, the EFL are duty-bound to attempt to create a level playing field for their members, and your artificially completely level playing field is not as level a playing field as a good, old-fashioned rutted mud bath. Spoken like someone who has never seen a game at Hornchurch

Perhaps we should play the return fixtire on a trampoline then?

Slightly OT - 3G doesn't always work - sad tale from Worthing: twohundredpercent.net/worthing-fc-pitch-far/Ashford also had problems with a badly laid 3G pitch, but they seem to have overcome them. Anyone know the latest on that?

Anyone know the latest on that? Not sure whose fault the problems at Worthing are, but quite apart from the drainage issue the pitch was never legal and they had to get special dispensation to play on it even before the problems. The rules on 3G pitches state that the run-off outside the pitch boundaries should be of the same green carpet as the rest of the pitch and extend at least one metre beyond the pitch boundary. Worthing's run-off is red and butts right up against the boundaries.

As well as being illegal, that's just plain ugly! I thought Sutton's was bad enough, with different coloured artificial grass around the pitch, but this is horrible.

Another interesting article linkI don't know how much St George's Park cost to build, but it is not beyond the realms of possibility that one day a football club could build an indoor stadium, without the need for an expensive sliding roof to give light to a grass pitch.

A bit worried by the reference to JDFS. Could it be John Daubney's Fibia Splints...?

Probably could do it with a grass pitch! I'm sure I read somewhere there's a stadium where the pitch is slid out and back from the car park? Was it the World Cup in Japan?

Another interesting article linkNice of them to mention the pioneers of 3G at the senior level... But the real reason behind the EFL's hatred of 3G is revealed: "They also promote better technical skills at a younger age." Imagine generations of talented young English players being produced. What on earth would we do with them - dispense with expensive overseas players, do well in international competitions, perhaps even win the World Cup? Can't be having that.

Hibernian u20s play home games at the Oriam Centre, which is indoors
