Very odd. Excluding the pitch from development, but not everything else related to it is bizarre - do they seriously think any club (at any level) could function with just a pitch?!
Not even the daftest council could propose that, so either it's a mistake of almost unbelievable stupidity, or else there's more to this.
Or maybe the pitch itself has some sort of protection in this context, so they have to exclude it - but only the actual pitch. Maybe they have factored in the club's needs in their plan but simply can't show the pitch itself as part of the area to be redeveloped for some technical/legal reason?

Possibly a way to apply pressure to make them sell the land and move to a different spot? I don't think they'd completely fold or anything, which that news article hints at, but it certainly is all very strange. I can see them moving in with Fisher, who have a shiny new stadium just down the road in Bermondsey...

The existing plans are to build a new stadium on the current site, located at the end of the current ground furthest away from the car park with the pitch turned through 90°. I believe there is some public open space there which is used by dog walkers at the moment but is badly neglected. Fisher's new ground would require lots of work to come up to the required grade for Ryman Premier.

I'm a little lost - if there already plans in place to just build a new stadium in the same place (completely pointless; Champion Hill is a more than decent non-league ground), where does comments about the club coming into threat come into it? If Fisher isn't large enough (I still haven't been despite working near there for a number of months) they'd have to speak to Dartford or Ebbsfleet and play on a Sunday, much like Cray do now and Greenwich Borough did a while back. I saw recently that Lewisham Borough folded having not secured a ground in time for the new season, so their large arena would be looking for occupants over the next few years too...

The developers want to build on the existing car park and part of the ground. The plans include a new stadium about 80 yards away from the existing car park end so there is a partial overlap, but they only have outline planning permission at the moment and the council seem reluctant to give them full approval, and local residents are objecting to the use of public open space.

I would object if I lived in inner London. Any club putting their faith in property developers while sitting on prime London land is sooner or later going to be ripped off. Hope I'm proved wrong.

Their current ground is built on what was originally just a part of their old ground - and now it sounds like it's happening again.
At this rate they will literally be playing in the car park.

Cambridge City spring to mind. Large city centre ground, partly sold off to build new small ground, which in turn was then stolen by property developers, leaving football club homeless.

I remember their old ground - a classic old-style stadium. It was huge, as well, I guess it would easily have held 10-15k.
In the pre-League days they were seen as the premier south London side, much more important than Palace, for instance. But Palace chose to go pro and DH stuck to their principles and stayed amateur. And unfortunately they paid a huge price for that decision.

Will definitely be interesting to see how this all develops and would be good to hear the Dulwich fans' perspective on all this. I was in Crystal Palace this morning and remembered there's the HUGE Crystal Palace Athletics stadium should they need to move temporarily. AC London used it last season so it can evidently be used for football and they're obviously open to renting it.

Typical Dulwich - run into money problems just as you're having one of your best ever seasons! Sounds like nothing has really changed over there - still a complete mess, with no one knowing what the hell is going on, or who's going to do what, when. Could do Margate a favour though - although with Billericay in the way, the best they can hope for is the play-offs. They could go top tonight, although Leiston away isn't an easy 3 points. But Billericay have EIGHT games in hand! Still a brilliant job by Steve Watt.
