I wouldn't be suprised if said councillor's first name was the same as Mr Paxman (the quiz show host) and surname same as a Moors murderer of the 60s Not quite the same, "le" rather than "ley" I stood against him in Barming Heath once. He won - just, when the Liberals had expected to, and the Lib County Councillor had a right go at me at the count for taking votes off the Liberals! Interesting view of democracy - other candidates are at fault if your candidate doesn't win! But, if she was right, I may ultimately have been responsible for JH becoming Mayor...

The Flower Pot has to be one of the most cramped pubs in Maidstone. But not as cramped as something like The Paper Mill in Sittingbourne - man, that is micro Amateurs, you're no true man until you've had a pint in the smallest pub in the UK!

Especially with Big Mick taking up half of it! If that was that micro pub in Bury St Edmunds? That would have been the moment I thought about finding another pub!

I went into the Stag in the High Street the other evening and was told they had a 'no hat' rule. I, a 70yr old pensioner, was expected to remove my flat cap. I doubt I will be returning.
Smallest pub in the UK? That would be the 'Little Prince' in Margate's Old Market. Quaint! Room for three or four customers but space outside to drink.

I went in the Stag a long while back now ( in one of its former guises ) and witnessed a no holds barred fight between a couple of punters..........

There was once a time when gentlemen removed their hats when going indoors - I still do, including pubs unless it's raining inside.

Adverts outside it at the moment setting up staff interviews - change of career path anyone ? Where is this? I walked down Bank Street just a couple of days ago and don't remember seeing any ads. I was pissing down, though...

Talking of which - I was in Aylesford for the first time in years last summer and was horrified to find that the Little Gem had closed. If you can't make a go of a pub as nice as that, perhaps there really is no hope?!

Project Blue was our 'pub' of choice when we first got married, and we carried on going there after starting a family. They were very welcoming of kids and it was a nice laid-back, friendly atmosphere. We often ate in there a well. But when it became The Green Room, they wouldn't let us bring the kids in. Not much more than a year later it closed. I wonder why.
