Apparently not a listed building - odd, I assumed that every building in that part of the village was listed. I remember the high street as having quite a few shops back in the late 70s/early 80s - am I imagining this?

When the last bank in Bakewell closes early this year, there'll be no no banks left at all in the whole of the Peak District (a major tourist area): www.theguardian.com/money/2023/dec/30/people-are-devastated-anger-and-anxiety-as-peak-district-loses-its-last-bank

Constantly reinvented by Big Beer - lost all identity/purpose/atmosphere. Haven't been there since it was an 'Irish' bar (which it wasn't). They had a band (just a duo, really) in there that night and someone commented that their music wasn't very Irish (it was just the usual rock/punk covers). To which the band replied "we're not Irish" - which basically summed the place up.

Back in the 1980's when it was the Sun and had the best juke box in town it was a cracking pub but now is just a nondescript shithole whose only redeeming feature is its right near my bus stop to Tonbridge if I have a little time to wait.

From 29th march, Maidstone Metrobank are only going to be open 09.30 to 17.00 weekdays! This is no good to me,as I work ten to six ,three miles from the town centre. They told me in an email, that the nearest branch open on a Saturday (from 11am to 4pm) is Bexley! This is no good to me,as it's in the ULEZ zone,so I would have to pay that,as well as for fuel to get there! When Metrobank started,it sold its self on being the future of banking, open in the evening and Saturdays and Sundays,so they were more accessible then the traditional banks.... Sad - if inevitable - I opened an account there a while ago, as I needed a second credit card and was very impressed by the very helpful, knowledgeable, staff - certainly the best banking experience I've had in the last 40+ years. The beer's crap though...

That’s fine. It’ll probably become a pub when they close it down.
