Funny word 'beeline' - if you ever watch bees, the very last thing they do is go anywhere directly! Not sure crows fly all that straight either... Once they’ve gathered their nectar they do fly in a straight line. Useless info but true

The Swan up County Road is nice! Very welcoming and the landlord makes bloody lovely roast potatoes too! Highly recommend it Ive not been there for a couple of years, my aussie mate and myself used to make that our first point of call when doing a little pub crawl, but they stopped doing Whitstable bay on tap, so we stopped. I wonder how many ex prisoners made a bee line for that pub, as soon as they are Released out of the prison door opposite? Probably very few, they're normally met at the gate by transport on release but The Swan is a decent pub. I went in there the other night for the first time in ages, beer was good, friendly environment and a small garden out the back which is handy for smokers.

Updated for Weymouth fans. Still some work to do. I don't think the Weymouth fans needed too much help finding a pub...

The Swan up for auction, guide price £ 220 - 240 K, great location, I'm afraid, for flats with a panoramic view of Maidstone nick: www.cliveemson.co.uk/properties/212/94/

Lovely little pub, and I thought the new tenants had turned it round nicely. Very sad. Nearest pub to me too!

I don't mind if Shepherd Neame want to reduce their estate. But why must it always be auctioned for flats? Why not sell it for slightly less to someone willing to given it a go? They could even include a tie for their very average beers To be fair, most breweries' mainstream beers are average. Shep beers are fine if you're prepared to be a bit more adventurous. Bishops Finger is a decent ale and the 1698 is very good. If you want something a bit lighter, the Whitstable Bay organic is also very acceptable.

I thought you lived in Hungary. We do, but only two months of the year these days.
