Sadly the correct decision about Southend. You can’t have clubs starting who can’t pay wages, regularly go into administration, and spending eternity on the brink of a takeover that never happens. It might even force the current owner to finally move on.
Am I right in remembering it was Maidstone’s demise that made the Football League bring in a £1 million bond for new entrants?

And if they are kicked out, who replaces them? Am guessing nobody, though could the side relegated with the most points get a reprieve? Adding a replacement would cause all manner of problems, you'd think.

The sensible thing would be for the NL to play with one short and one fewer relegated at the end of the season so only 3 relegated.

If Southend fail to convince the league that they are viable, I wonder if any players may find there way to Maidstone. a keeper perhaps?

I've no time at all for Southend - the bastards tried to stop us going up in 89, and treated us like shite.
But you have to feel for their supporters - if they haven't had that 10 points deducted last season, they's have been in the play-offs, and might even have been promoted.
Although, I remain confused as to how a club that spent most of the season teetering on the edge of financial collapse, had a long-term transfer embargo, and frequently couldn't pay players and staff manages to play that well...

Would the EFL have allowed them up?

This is really shitty of Wolves, Maidenhead were due 8 million, but Wolves made them drop the 20% sell on clause so they only have to give them 4 million

As a Wolves supporter, I am disgusted, it seems so disrespectful to non league. As a lawyer, I’d say we don’t have enough detail of the issues at stake to make a sound judgement. Luckily I put a soft covering onto my fence.

It had to happen soon and with all the extra EFL games scheduled there will be football every night of the week so TNT probably think that NL games will not be watched. No viewers = no advertisers = no money. I wonder how many clubs in all 3 divisions have already spent their expected annual TV allowance and or money expectedfor live games.
