Apparently Notts County are in a spot of bother.....
(thanks to Kenny for the heads up)

It just shows the silly money these type of clubs are throwing at a promotion push. If you are losing £1.7million with average gates of around 8000 then it can only be described as utter madness.

How can a 4th/5th division club expect to fund a £14m debt??
How did they mamage to get into that state? How did the EFL allow them to get into that state? How did the NL accept them as members in that state?
This is madness.

It's not a problem until it is a problem.
i.e. when the money runs out.

True. I am sure they owe most of the the money to their owners in some way.
It's a funny old game. that would really worry me but if you go on to their forum the consensus is that its fine, "find me a club who doesn't make a loss" etc. This is part of the problem. If the owners were sustainably in mid-table their fans would be livid.
That said, we know there are many clubs not being run sustainably and that is why County find themselves down here.
The game needs a reset. Hard to do though.
In 5 years time if the owners other business interests suffer and they want to withdraw their funding / want paying back, their fans will be the ones be crying the FA for allowing the takeover and "how did they pass a fit and proper test" etc etc.
As fans, we have to play our part - and i think this is quite pertinent with regards to our own situation

True Bernie. If everyone ran their club correctly, it would be much better.

Christ there's a lot of pie in the sky stuff in that statement. It's no wonder that clubs who live within their means can't compete with fantasy finances like that.

We drop into the relegation zone after Oldham draw with Notts County.

Dorking stuffed 4-0 at Eastleigh. Their goals conceded is worse than ours, but only the top three have scored more. A bit of a worry now is that Aldershot have opened up a five point gap on us. Lose tomorrow and we will start to look like being left behind, especially as Gateshead and Oldham both have two games in hand.

I think Gateshead will beat York tomorrow so some kind of positive result is needed. To be honest it doesn't really matter about a gap opening up we just have to concentrate on getting a minimum of 25 points off of 21 games if we do that then the league places will take care of themselves.

Rumours reaching Swordy towers that the Scunthorpe take over bid has fallen through and they could enter administration very soon.

Rumours reaching Swordy towers that the Scunthorpe take over bid has fallen through and they could enter administration very soon. Unfortunately that won't help us, they need a miracle to avoid relegation and will finish below us anyway if they don't fold. We need to do enough to finish 20th regardless of how many teams finish the season.
