Just how deep are Parmenter's pockets?? Well it seems they plan to do full-time properly unlike us! we are only doing 3 days training (even then Harry has mentioned we have only done 2 days some weeks) why they are doing 4.....never understood this move to ''full-time'' if we weren't gonna do it properly.

The thing is the players train mornings (Harry mentioned we do 90-120 minute sessions) so there is plenty of time for the pitch to be ''rented'' out. Anyway id imagine they're doing it at that time because no one wants to pay to use it then. The players could train 4-5 mornings and i doubt it would effect the money we can make from the pitch.

Once again, I find myself puzzled by the term 'full-time'.
OK, so we can still be 'full-time', but train two days a week or three or four - that bit's OK. But what about salaries - surely if you go from part-time to full time, you have to pay players more? So, are Dover increasing their players' wages - were they on full-time salaries to start with, but just not doing the training?
And, sort of the opposite question re us - if we were paying players a 'full-time' salary (i.e. one good enough for them not to need another job), why aren't they training full-time too??

Rather bizarrely it seems Dover had players on full-time contracts, but were only training 2 nights a week. This is what Hessenthaler had to say on Kent online "There are players on full-time contracts so they're not training enough. "They've only been training two nights a week on their full-time contracts so they've got to be training four days a week plus playing on a Saturday.www.kentonline.co.uk/dover/sport/whites-going-full-time-191160/

Didn't he have a daytime job teaching elsewhere hence the evening training?
Or have I just made that up?

He did/does - a PE teacher. I found that odd as well. But then at this level of football, there are all sorts of odd arrangements - Sutton's manager, for instance, or coaches/managers who work at two different clubs, and players who play at one club and coach at another. Basically, we are caught in a trap between non-league and League - we have the aspirations, but (not always) the money. Most NL clubs can't afford to pay proper full-time wages, so people have to supplement their income. Which neatly brings us back to the 'full-time' conundrum - many players probably don't want to train too often, as it limits their chances of earning money elsewhere.

Surely you can train some times (eg. one day a week), without needing to use the whole pitch? I'm sure I've seen the pitch set up for two 5-a-side/7-a-side games - or something similar?

I wonder what the players felt about this news! Cobdown might be nearer that Crabble, but I suspect it's still a fair way for many of their players - with all the fun of the Dartford Crossing/M25 and M20 to factor in... Also, he says "There are players on full-time contracts...", not " All the players are on full-time contracts", so that would suggest that some (perhaps most?) are still part-time - so they aren't going to be happy, especially with the switch from evening to daytime training. Is Parmenter going to put his hands into his Tardis-like pockets again and bring all the salaries up to proper 'full-time', or are the players going to be told like it or lump it, if you want to continue playing for us, this is what you have to do? But if Hess can walk the walk as well as talk the talk (and his success at Eastleigh would suggest he can), then this could be the saving of Dover. Which means, if my (wholly scientific) theory of '3 of the bottom teams at this time of year always go down', the future might not be looking quite so good for D&R. Or for us, if we don't break away completely!

In the south east, one wonders how the whole full time/part time thing works for many players. We know ourselves that the likes of Mills and Flisher didn't want full time and this is understandable if they are thinking beyond the short time football offers. Housing ain't cheap. Even a grand a week isn't going to enable anyone to put money aside to last them after football, so you need some sort of trade, qualifications etc to see you through. Ultimately, it is the sugar daddies who are to blame, paying over inflated wages even in the league below ours, which to me, spoils what the lower leagues have always been about. There are plenty of quality players who only want part time, for reasons already suggested, which I can't help thinking is actually diluting the quality of the national league (premier, north and south), with too many journeymen 'professionals' doing full time, as opposed skilful semi pros, who are playing for fun and appearance money

We need supplementary goals from our keeper like this.

Nothing that a carpenter and a bag of nails can't fix though it would have to be Richard as Karen is dead.
