Three attendances over 5000. Six above 3000. Three ex-EFL clubs at less than 1,700. How the 'mighty' have fallen. Sadly, this could well be the season Aldershot drop out of national football. As for Barnet and D&R - I am baffled how they survive, let alone maintain any fantasies of returning to the EFL. And surely this has got to be Wealdstone's last NL season?

As for us...
I think we'll start well, with the momentum of last season keeping the crowds up initially. But for this to continue, we need to be playing well and winning a few (football fans are bloody fickle!). With our current injury situation, this could be difficult, so I wouldn't be surprised to see relatively low crowds for the first part of the season. But once we've got players back to full fitness, crowds should pick up.
As for Saturday, I predict around 2,500 - depending on how many York bring down. This might sound a bit low for our first home game, but early gates are usually below average. Last season we 'only' got about 1,800 for our first home game.

There were complaints at Bearsted yesterday from disgruntled Maidstone senior fans about the concession price of admission this season. Coupled with the so called cost of living crisis (some of us remember a bank rate of 15% under Harold Wilson, but we survived), that may keep a section of supporters away.
The match? Bearsted roared into a 3 - 0 lead before half time, but managed to draw 3 - 3 with Spelthorne (both level 5 clubs) - truly a game of two halves!

It's rail strikes again the day of the York game which could keep some people from coming. York typically travel very well so even without the trains running I think they'll find a way down and go a good way to filling their allocation. Going to say we'll be at 2,200 people and romp to a tasty, hard fought 1-0 win.

Haven’t Dagenham got US Backers? You might be right. I think someone said something about that on the JPComs prediction video. Seems an odd club for US backers to be interested in. Wasn't it the club that that mad bloke tried to take over before he bought Ricay instead?

When I lived in York several decades ago it was very much a railway town with engineering works and regional BR offices. This meant they got free or cheap rail travel, and used it. Not sure if that’s still the case, but a strike will definitely affect travelling numbers.

Haven’t Dagenham got US Backers? One of their backers is involved with the New York Yankees, so yeah, they must have money. As for Barnet their owner Tony Kleanthous is loaded, he's worth 131 million www.greatbritishlife.co.uk/people/who-s-the-top-50-richest-in-hertfordshire-7273234

Does anyone else wonder - where did I go wrong? Getting married, having kids, getting divorced, getting married again, having more kids, being a football supporter... Or is that just me?
