Don't really understand the "FA Cup is a distraction, league is paramount" thing. I'd like us to go up, but I'd rather see us get to the 3rd round of the cup, or even further. If that means we miss out on promotion this year then so be it. Each to their own of course.

Can do both, we are out of the trophy, three fa cup games at most and 28 league games to play in 5 months, a lot but not excessive. The only way it will become a problem is if a lot of away games get postponed. The Kent Senior Cup and League Cup (and u21's) work for us in that the players sitting on the bench for the league games can get game time so they are ready when needed

I agree, Jay and the team can have a bit of a free pass for the rest of the season as far as I'm concerned now Unrelated - anyone find out quite why we had a Premier League referee doing our game yesterday?

Once we're there, you can enjoy as many cup games as you like!

Where we agree is that I also think we are definitely good enough for the Conference, but I'm not so bothered about the order things come in.

Whether we belong in the Conference or are good enough for Conference South is irrelevant because right now we are a Ryman Prem side and it is down to us to change that.
It is my opinion but regardless of whether we go up or not the reality is we are in November and I'm happy to accept that 2014/15 has been a successful season for Maidstone United. We have made the 2nd round of the greatest club competition in the world, we have appeared live on TV putting 3G further into the spotlight. The added bonus is of course the cash, which will be used to leave a legacy for years to come and actually yes I do think that is more important than getting promoted.
We can of course do both but if we don't go up this season then I'm sure it is only a matter of time, there are certain other clubs who would view non promotion as a failure and that will only be compounded by the fact they haven't had a cup run of any note.
The other club are under huge pressure to get promoted given the financial backing and there are some who think it's a case of when they win the league rather than "if", I'm not sure we are under that sort of pressure.

I always find the suggestion that any competition isn't important a bit strange. I always want us to win every game we play. Even if we get Chelsea or ManU in the third round I will want us to win, even though it is virtually impossible. Therefore suggesting we shouldn't bother with the FA cup is ridiculous in the extreme.

..and to carry that reasoning further, why do clubs enter the competition at the preliminary and qualifying rounds when they have no realistic chance of winning the (FA) cup? It has to be the magic of the cup with the faint chance that they can get through a few rounds; maybe draw a big club or a team with cup history, and in the process make some money to provide improvements or in reality make enough money to keep the club afloat.

If we do get Chelsea or Man U at home do we play at the Gallagher or move the tie to Priestfield where more of us can get tickets?

We play at The Gallagher and then enjoy the even bigger meltdown at Chelsea/Man U when they only get a 500 ticket allocation

It would be swapped to their ground. No brainer......have I left myself open to a whoosh? The money would be greater for us and them. Anyway, got to get there 1st.

Whoosh!!! Cant do that anymore Yes The decision will be down to something called the professional game board in conjunction with the club and the relevant safety authorities. If they tell us to switch, the game must be played on the nearest suitable ground IF we manage to beat Wrexham, or this "problem" occurs in future
