It seems that it may be possible to get the train back on the day after all. I had a look on google maps and it returned this:
Wrexham General - Chester (Dep 19.46 Arr 20.05) Chester - Crewe (Dep 20:18 Arr 20:41) Crewe - London Euston (Dep 20:47 Arr 22:45) London Victoria - Maidstone East (Dep 00:07 Arr 01:11)
It would mean only having 6 minutes to change at Crewe, so that's probably why it doesn't show up on the National Rail site. I had another look on National Rail and you have to divide your journey so you get a return between Maidstone East and Crewe then a return between Crewe and Wrexham.
It's a bit of a faff and quite pricey (£68.50) but it's an option.

The train isn't really an option as we can't get back to Maidstone, BUT, & it is a big but, if you have a superb partner or a designated driver, you could get on the 20:02 from Wrexham & end up in Chatham at 01:40. A taxi from Chatham to Maidstone at that time is around £25 so divide that between 5 of you and its a fiver each or 6 quid each if its £30. Not exactly expensive !

It will seem more expensive if we have been gubbed

As I said earlier, I am gonna drive as several mates are going and we can share the driving. Plus the fact that I have just taken delivery of a new Toyota Auris Touring Hybrid means it does great mpg !

Recently we got ourselves a Grand Scenic which is supposed to give a decent mpg on longer journeys. If I can get the day off (probably not) I might see if I can ressurect the Wollies and go. Make sure you get the driving there not back

Anyone thinking of staying over night premier inn as no rooms left. I have just booked into Ramada hotel and they have a few left. There are some other hotels near by, expedia.com seems to be the easiest way to find and book a room.

Not a bad price and it's only about 3/4 of a mile from the ground. Steve, I take it you're driving ? I am and there's currently two in my car, waiting to see if any others that I usually take are coming to Wrexham.

I noticed that the premmier inn on friday morning was pricemat £35.oo and this price soon went up, as the rooms were being booked up quickly, i see that the national express coach leaves maidstone at 08.05, you change at victoria coach station for the 10.30 coach and get there at 16.20, but there is no coach coming back that day, you have to go home on the sunday
