I speak as someone who's family come from north wales with regards to a night out in Wrexham. Chester is very nice and a cab ride away.

Maidstone us shit for tourists mainly because of the local council's apathy when it comes to promoting the towns extensive history, and it's refusal to continue supporting the one event that attracts thousands of people to the town in the summer. one must not forget the council has brought us the iconic "travel lodge" building which is looking really nice now it has worn in for a few years...a rival to the archbishops palace for sight seeing for future generations of away fans....and of course prime position for the big summer river festival. coach 3 and proud. I loved the phrase "iconic travel lodge" Irony doesn't get much better than that.

Depends what you mean by anywhere else. It's on Wrexham's forum.

A 'groundhopper' was in attendance at our previous game against Aldershot Town. You can read his blog as a neutral to the Racecourse, including his mini pub crawl and what he thought of the town, ground and fans...
lostboyos.wordpress.com/2014/11/30/lost-in-wrexham/
Highlights: ground next to the train station, nice ground, near the town centre, plenty of good pubs, friendly fans, Wrexham Lager.
Low Points: not a great atmosphere in the ground, such a shame that the Kop isn’t in use anymore.

Just out of interest, is there no possibility of getting the Kop opened up again, or is the cost prohibitive. Would be a cracking ground if all four sides were in use.

CPD. The atmosphere will be much better and bigger for our game, for a start we will have a lot more than 143,and its our biggest game for years That was two mid table sides slugging it out, this is a one off cup game you wont want a replay ,you will come at us from the start. I see the gate was about 2500,do you think there will be a bigger home gate than that i realize were a small club without any "crowd pull" for your fans. Good info for the pub-crawl part,We (4) are getting to the Hotel for about 5pm on Friday,we will follow in his footsteps very shortly after arrival. just out of interest ,in your honest opinion of all things Wrexham would that blog writer, have found the Town, and fans just as friendly had he been wearing an England shirt around on match day.

Would he have found it the same in an England shirt?
No.
To be honest I'm surprised he had the balls to venture there in that top!

The atmosphere will certainly be better, a good away crowd, game under floodlights and with some purpose.
Our average attendance this season is 3,661, however Saturday was our first league win in 9/10 games so attendances have suffered unfortunately, we were averaging 3,900 until our slump, with the game being on TV, that will again knock some off our support, particularly for exiles.
If you're getting there for 5, you'll only have a limited time before the game for a pint, so I'd head to the Turf which is right outside the ground or the Maesgwyn which is further down Mold Road opposite the Uni.
As for the England top, I've seen plenty of them about, not just on match days but throughout the week. English people live and work in Wrexham it is only 5 or so miles from the border! You'll also see plenty of Premiership football tops about as well.

Some people have a misconception of Wrexham as a rough, anti-English town, when in fact, we are probably one of the friendliest away days out. If you go looking for trouble (with a firm, not normal football fans), then you'll find it, like anywhere, but if you're in town, the pub or by the ground in your teams top, you'll get plenty of people talking to you about football in general rather than hassling you. In the ground you'll get banter no doubt, but that's all it will be.
