I've got two rooms booked at a guest house (which has parking) in Chester Road South which I believe is a 20 minute walk from the ground. I shall be taking my son and his mate. They are thinking of having a night out in Chester as they think it might be better than Wrexham. From previous posts do you think they will have just as much fun if they stay in Wrexham?

I think I am gonna drive to this game. If I have 4 in the car then we can all share the driving. Pretty sure the train is out of the question if trying to do in in a single day but dont forget the Medway line (Chatham etc) runs later and a check reveals the latest train you can get from Wrexham General leaves at 7.02pm and arrives in Chatham at 12.05am with 4 changes.
Maybe possible depending on extra time etc.

One poster on their forum seems to be particularly anti 3G. Making himself look a bit of a Dick, accusing us of cheating because of the pitch.

They are thinking of having a night out in Chester as they think it might be better than Wrexham. From previous posts do you think they will have just as much fun if they stay in Wrexham? It is probably a 45 minute walk - if you know where you are going. There are buses every 10 minutes from your hotel (number 1) which go into Wrexham town centre. If you fancy a drink yourself, Gresford - where the hotel is - has some lovely pubs, The Pant and the Griffin are very good.
As for the night out, it depends. Chester is infamous for the doormen saying "not tonight lads" for guys on their own, if their face doesn't fit, they seem drunk or they're not wearing the right sort of clothes/shoes! It isn't a bad night out, but is better catered for couples/mixed groups.
Wrexham isn't to everyone's tastes (neither is Chester), but as a one off, it is a good night out. It is like being on holiday(!) as all the bars and clubs are on a 'strip' of three streets (High Street, Town Hill and Brook Street) with more traditional pubs and another night club (Central Station) dotted around side streets, whereas Chester is far more spread out. If I'm making a weekend of an away day, I tend to go out in the place we are playing and I've had some good nights in places like Grimsby and Doncaster amongst others, where you don't always expect it and could've gone bigger cities nearby.
If they didn't have a night out in Wrexham, I wouldn't recommend Chester, they'd be better getting the train from Wrexham to Liverpool which is around an hour and 15 minutes (one change at Bidston station). The taxi would be about £60/65 back rather than £15/20 from Chester, but they'd have a brilliant time and Liverpool is much, much more relaxed with letting people in.

i don't know if KC is on a windup here, because asking a Wrexham fan to recommend anything good and decent about Chester would be like asking any self respecting Stones fan to recommend a nice weekend stay in Gillingham.
Put it like this Gillingham would go bust if i worked for the tourist information office
We thought about Chester ,but you probably wont get in most bars and clubs because its posh Cheshire types who would probably dislike a Southern/London accent as much as they might a North Welsh one .
I'm in the PI hotel near the station/ground and confident that we will have a good time around town
CPD is showing international diplomatic skills.

I don't mind the city of Chester - just not the club! I lived there for a few years with my girlfriend and it is a lovely place and a magnet for tourists. Shopping - great, restaurants - great, nightlife - crap.

Maidstone us shit for tourists mainly because of the local council's apathy when it comes to promoting the towns extensive history, and it's refusal to continue supporting the one event that attracts thousands of people to the town in the summer.

Just a quick heads up for those making the trip, we have a bit of character (He's marmite - you either love or hate him, 95% love him) who records interviews on his GoPro with home & away fans prior to and after the game in the pubs and around the ground, it's all good, harmless fun, so don't be afraid to join in .
He's nicknamed the Bootlegger and you can find his videos on his YouTube channel HERE.
