Overheard a conversation down the gym the other day between two Spurs supporters. One had been to the Stevenage game and the other asked him what it had been like.
As a Stones supporter, his answer wasn't exactly what I had hoped for. It was bizarre to hear a cracking Stones performance being described by a PL supporter. I won't go into detail, as it was too depressing, but the sheer arrogance and condescension was stunning. This was his home team he was putting down - why the hell did he bother to go if that was his attitude?
And all this from a SPURS supporter!

Will be interesting to see the dedication and support at East Thurrock. Quite. I'd actually arranged to go to the theatre on Saturday (Sunny Afternoon) so I'd have an excuse not to go to East Thurrock, but now it'll be midweek!

Just because some fans have been going longer than others doesn't mean that the rest don't support the lads as much as others. Its not a competition to see who the biggest fan is, as long as it makes you happy then that's that. It was loud at Stevenage, louder than any game I've ever been to, we gave a good account of ourselves, everyone new we were the underdogs and realized that the players were going to need a 12th man (I know corny cliche)... Shame we are not like that a home matches, ey...

If you take a look at one thread that is on here there are people encouraging swearing and abuse chants at someone for expressing an opinion albeit a bit of a contradictory to actions one. What a mixed up society we live in.

Just because some fans have been going longer than others doesn't mean that the rest don't support the lads as much as others. Its not a competition to see who the biggest fan is ... I'm afraid that's exactly what it is, Kieran - but fear not - it's all a bit of tongue-in-cheek, and (mostly) good-humoured badinage. The important thing, as you say, is to get behind this, at the moment, quite magical team. Also you have to give those Oldies their due. They have watched and supported the club through thick and thin and witnessed some bad and sad times. They deserve their God-like status and I hang my head low in shame as their wrath cascades around my ears because I never went to Bourne Park and because I have only lived in Maidstone for a short while. What's more important is to continue to support the team when this bubble bursts. Good on you, Kieran, for making the right choice in the team you've chosen to adore and well done for being at Stevenage. See you tonight at Fortress Gallagher - I'm the one standing next to the man with one eye. COME ON YOU STONES!

I bet you could find Stones whose first matches attended were in each year going back to the 60s. Pizzy's must be about 1977? Me 1975. S Oxon Stone about 1962 or 63 he can't remember!

Ernie Munn must be one of the longest supporters that Maidstone has, I think he's about 76 and he told me he used to go with his father. So if he's about 76 now. So here must have been born around 1938,that covers a few years. I used to work in Winstones Bar at The London Road ground, that's when I first meet him and I'm in my 66th year. But because I worked in a shop I was unable to do many Saturday games.

The 1st time I went to see the Stones was in the mid 50's I think they played Hendon. Can't remember the score, but I think the Hendon goalie got carried off.
