Welcome to the world of disillusion experienced by people involved in just about every campaign in human history, even when you achieve exactly what you wanted. That feeling of not wanting to let go. The realisation that you quite enjoyed the uniqueness of the unhappy situation you were in. Even trying to keep the old campaign going when everyone else has rolled up their banners and gone home. What was disappointing at the Sudbury game was listening to a couple of the old guard castigating everyone else present (in one case very loudly walking past the terrace) for only being there for FA Cup tickets. Bollocks. I was there for the game, and had no intention of buying a cup ticket. Guess what? It's not your club any more. You are no longer "the few". There are thousands of new fans with just as much right to be there, as they have paid their money and done what the club asked to get cup tickets. The much hated business plan is what brought us home and will ensure there is a club for our kids to support; kids who have no interest hearing about Ashford and Sittingbourne. I haven't argued that people shouldn't be there. In fact my post says that one of the reasons for battling away all those years was to have loads more Maidstonians going. However, I can't disagree with the comment about it not being my club any more. As I say, I liked it when you just turned up and watched. Now we are in an era of scrabbling for tickets, dealing with yobs and high (sometimes ridiculous expectations etc etc. I know it comes with the territory if you want to go higher and higher. That, aylesford, is probably why I don't want to go higher and higher. It's certainly a dilemma Ade. On an ideal world we all want our club to do well, win leagues and get promoted, but when they do it does take away some of the magic of supporting a non-league club. I'm definitely in two minds about possible promotion. On the one hand I don't want the club to stagnate, but on the other I still want to be able to have a pint while watching the game and mingle with opposition fans. I won't stop going now whatever level we reach, but some of the fun will have gone out of it.

I can't believe all this negative feedback from people who should know better. What do you want the club to do? Piss off back to Ashord and Sittingbourne Come on don't be wound up NWS. Good ridence to him.

i'm struggling to see where nws has said he wanted the club to go back to the dark days, just that he enjoyed them
the fact that you want to get rid of supporters who kept this club alive makes you a bigger cock that nws will ever be

Now i'm just confused - yeah, it doesn't take a lot - let's see if i've got this right - the 'old guard' have served their time and should move on while people who will be attending their first game v Stevenage are equally not welcome - that leaves just the old 'newbies' to bicker over the right to buy tickets provided they are not beer-throwing idiots, provocative idiots, racist homophobe idiots stupid enough to lose a ticket stub from a previous game? Have i got that about right Pretty much spot on

Good ridence to him. I don't believe what I said was negative, simply realistic. If you think being segregated won't detract from the experience I admire your optimism. I'll still come and I'll still enjoy the game, but inevitably as we move up the pyramid the level of ancillary enjoyment will be reduced. Nor, in spite of our frequent disagreements ( real or fake ) on this board, do I want NWS to bugger off to Herne Bay. He is as much Maidstone United as any one, and if he's starting to feel a bit disillusioned then maybe the club would do well to take note.

I'm with Daveu on this one, I would love to reach the football league, to where Steveange are, but I do love non-league, the magic, the personal touch of lower leagues. I like to know the people I stand around, have a chat and all. I'll never stop going to the Gallagher every week, but as we get promoted higher and higher this will slowly be lost. There's a reason we support Maidstone and not premier league clubs...

I sure the club wouldn't have wanted to see quite so many regular fans missing out because of vast amount of town folk who couldn't be asked to stay on for the Sudbury game. For me this sums up the need for the IMUSC to help the club address concerns on these three all tickets games to avoid upsetting ticket less loyal fans the next time because the fan club membership doesn't ensure loyalty or makes it tougher for the glory hunters.

After ready this thread, I can only see the issue being that fans who live far away or work unsociable hours couldn't get down to the ground on Thursday or Friday. And therefore missed out on getting a ticket I do believe that having one day in between the Fan club and General sale for loyal fans (stamp books for regular attendance) wouldn't hurt that much. Also why cant they take orders for tickets over the phone? Unless we go further in the FA cup, I would imagine the next all ticket game may be Margate at home? We will have to wait until then to see if the club is willing to implement changes to keep the old guard happy.

Ok heres my view us oldies feel a strong deep love because we turned up when the club really need us at far distant borrowed homes and I remember one day at ashford where we all chipped in (a£10) I beleieve to save the club on the Monday but we all done it to have dreams of what we got today and I personally welcome all new fans as that's what we wanted all along, what annoys me is I feel let down by the club. The new owners took there vision and have done a fantastic job but I feel we just got lost in the mist of 1000s new fans I said when the ground opened I don't want to b separate or different from the news fans, but as I pointed out loyalty should b reward mayb in my oponion us oldies should have been given lifelong membership I ain't asking for anything free but I believe that would have said thanks but now your part of the future too,as for the ticket for this game my point was people who barely been and seemed to duped the system to buy multiples

I don't want to be disrespectful to the older supporters, but you need to move on, the current set up is all about taking Maidstone through the leagues to their rightful position, whether that be Conference or the Football league, the owners have ploughed a shed load of money into the club and I think it's quite crass for people to say the club have let them down, no they haven't you have let yourselves down by not paying £15 to join the supporters club, we all realise the ground is too small for the big games and the only way to get guaranteed tickets is either buy a season ticket or join the supporters club, it's simple really

Big all ticket games are new to the club unless the system is water tight it will always be open for abuse. There was no way with the system Saturday any one could ensure people wasn't able to buy multiple tickets with around a thousand tickets sold in 90 minutes. If there's a will there a way I hope the club listens.
