The thing that made a lot of people chuckle with Jamie Day was the owners grandchildren doing cartwheels and handstands on the pitch behind him when he was being interviewed.

After reading westleys comments regarding the pitch I do fear for his safety when he comes down the gallager next thursday , the poor soul has some how got to walk 80 yards from the tunnel to the dugout without seriously injuring himself, its going to remind me of the film the green mile , bless him

I was pretty sceptical at first, but, as everyone says, within minutes of watching your first game, you completely forget it's not grass. It even looks like grass close up - at the end of my first game I actually knelt down by the railing to see if it really was plastic! (It's really only the unnatural evenness at the edges that gives it away.)
And the football at the Gallagher has been quite astonishing for our level. In our first season back, I was amazed at the quality of what we were playing (it more than matched my memories of the old Conf days at London Road). I don't know if that's anything to do with the surface, or just that the standard of football in the lower leagues has improved a lot in 20+ years, but it certainly doesn't argue against 3G.
The only things that bug me about the pitch are the clouds of dust you sometimes get (the infamous 'rubber pellets' must be very small 'pellets'!), and, more critically, the look of the pitch when viewed from high up. It looked fine at first, but after two and a half seasons it's developed a strange 'patchy' look from above - not at all like a grass pitch (unless it's one that has been extensively patched!). Neither of these things are serious problems, obviously, but it's going to be interesting to see how the pitch looks on TV on the replay, especially on the long shots - that will be most people's first look at 3G, and could make it look a little strange.

Cannot wait for next week and continuos chants of Westly is a w****rMmmmmmmm...that will sound great on television and make a great advert for Maidstone United. Mmmmmmmmm perhaps we can tone it down to Westley is a nitwit not quite the same ring but fully deserved after his uneducated comments in the Sun. Its comments like these with no foundation that impair the efforts of Oliver and co to get full acceptance of 3G. People like Westley do not seem toa have any care about the future of our game. Perhaps many of these people will sit up and take note when England fail to beat Scotland next week and eventually over take us in the rankings.

Glad to see Bills comments in the match programme last night about Westley talking about 3g. He obviously holds him in same high regard as me.

All sorts of interesting people at last night's game. I had a 'shifty' character loitering behind me - it was Andy Ford!

On the injuries front, has anything been disproved? The bits of research I have seen (kindly posted up once by Binsey) seemed to be a mixed bag with 3g being worse on some injuries and better on others. I may be wrong on that though

I wonder if any research has been done on injury's caused by playing on poor grass pitches? Probably not!
